I completely agree with you on the curse status being COMPLETELY FUCKING POINTLESS. It adds NO CHALLENGE to have the player's life bar get halved, and then force them to run all the way from where they are to a vendor to buy an overpriced item (even 3000 is too much) just so they can go back to what they were trying to do before.

@foottothenuts The main issue is probably that the game doesn't explain enough IMO - the upside of getting cursed is that it potentially leads to a whole new area (New Londo as it says on the screen when you get cursed) to explore and a sort of "side-quest" to get cured (I put that in inverted commas because strictly it's not a side-quest as the area and NPC who cures you is mandatory, just later on).

I'm sure Phil would've LOVED Seath! Hahaha.

Oh and I got cursed by those basilisks too...just use it as an excuse to explore New Londo (though it can be tough while cursed). The irony is the basilisks are easy as pie (my character one-shots them) but that room makes them virtually impossible.

@MrWoc Tbh I found Blighttown a fucking nightmare and the part of the game that I enjoyed the least + almost broke me. It wasn't the enemies themselves but the way they were positioned, the infinite spawning bugs meaning you couldn't take your time and be patient, the poisonous bog, the narrow walkways, the toxin inducing archers and how hidden the first bonfire was. Trying to get up to the area with the Depths exit is almost impossible aswell. Honestly, I almost broke in this area.

@Xyrgra I certainly don't disagree with that, Blighttown is dreadful, possibly the most frustrating thing i have ever played in a game, the frame rate drops alone make it so much more difficult than it should be, I died at least twice because of the frame rate but if you take your time and don't go rushing in then its not too hard. I left through valley of the drakes, I didn't attempt to leave via the Depths for fear of bursting a blood vessel...

@MrWoc The issue I had with Blighttown is that I wanted to take my time but the infinite insects just meant I had to rush. Yeah, I definitely hated it and was the low-time of my gameplay, absolutely loving the game besides that though =D.

I would just say to people who are having real issues with the game to just keep at it because you end up learning the way the game plays without even realizing it and later on you find yourself a much better player....

@MrWoc Having said that I DID enjoy the Chaos Witch battle even though it was brutal as fuck (one hit kills etc) though I found out afterwards I fought her a bit too early as I hadn't even fought Capra Demon or Gaping Dragon yet or got any Fire Resist gear - plus the fact the most souls I ever got from a boss before that was 5k and I get 20k from her haha. I have no qualms with brutal bosses but random enemies being so powerful I probably have a little bit of a nark with.

It doesn't add anything to the game. WRONG! It gives you a chance to go to Londo Ruins and not waste time farming items that curse you. Enemies in Londo Ruins can only be hit when you're cursed.

Wow.  Just wow. That trap was incredibly cruel. Curse seems a bit too overpowering to me. Apparently, it can stack too. There's a difference between hard and tedious. Why should anyone have to stop and grind for 3k souls? Stupid. This game looks good, but that is beyond cheap and potentially forces you to restart.

@CelsoKelso Yeah, I looked into it. I guess some bar fills up so you just step away from the fog before it fills up. I still think it's an overpowered status ailment and the item that heals it is about 10X overpriced. It probably shouldn't cost more than 1K for the item that heals it and even that is pushing it. Grinding to cure a status ailment isn't difficulty. It's just tedious.  Most of the game seems to have fair difficulty though so I may check it out eventually.

@Raizhen010 The thing about curses though its more of a reminder to Demons Souls when you died in that game and went into Spirit form your health was cut in half so long as you stay in Spirit form unless you had the Cling Ring which even then only allowed 75% of max HP and in Dark Souls theres about 3 or 4 ways to cure your curse one of which doesnt need any grinding at all for the most part
