  • that is amazing

  • excellent!

  • AWE-FRIGGIN'-SOME

  • Nice work.

  • This is excellent and I can only imagine pure envy as reason for not liking this!

  • Excellent version, I always wondered what David Gilmour would do with this tune, I think his style would produce an excellent rendition.

  • @ukjacklondon Ok, going to buy lighter...

  • You can't realize how this is so good. This interpretation is so good, it is a joy to listen to it after the Zappa's live version. It is relaxing, it is like the end of a looong journey in heaven.

  • Beautiful. Rhythm and solo!

  • trying to make me kill myself?:P

  • who the hell didn't like this!!!!!

  • amazing!!!

  • Maurizzio...as a fellow musican, I judge you by what your brain is trying to express in the end.... You my friend sing amongst the angels in your choice of tools (eventide) (chosen strings .011 - .014 - .018 - .028 - .038 - .049, tuned half step down / your chosen arrangement, and the technique that you used to get the end product (the song itself) to sound exactly the way it does ... which is..priceless.!!! Bravissimo!!!

It isn't about Frank's original, it's about a new interpretation guys!

  • well

  • You, Sir, rule!

  • Awsome....Thanks man

  • "Beautiful" is in no way enough of a word to describe this ........Franks would be proud

Thanks so much from Oklahoma the offcial recording grounds of "Hog Heaven" 10-18-80

  • your arrangement is great and your tone is something amazing, so dreamlike, Frank would be proud

  • Hallo Mauraxe,

this is a great renddition of that great Zappa-song ! I enjoyed it a lot -thank you very much for making and posting it!

Could you do me - and surely many other guitarplaying Zappa-devotees - do the favour and tab your version of 'Watermelons' (guitar pro, tux-guitar, or as word or txt-file - it doesn't matter) - 'I woud be so delighted'.....

    Thank you again !

  • @Dscheko Thank you...:-) I'm still thinking about a tab book, in the future, so for know I can't divulge tabs, sorry...

  • @Dscheko

     ...... its so wonderfull .

  • You perform this in a unique way, but it's so well done that I could actually watch you play this at a concert alone (no other instruments needed.)

  • Music is the best... fine job

  • You are with out a Doubt the the person making the best Covers of Zappa's music on youtube please make more videos

  • nice man!

  • Dude, you totally rock. You bring Zappa's voice to life.

May you live to be a thousand.....

  • sapevo che eri intelligente, ma non pensavo fossi anche così bravo!!!

  • @andrus777 Grazie di tutto!

  • Amazing arrangement. thank for posting it, it's really nice to listen to the song like this.

  • Superb!

  • thanks. this is awesome.

  • doing both guitar parts at once!!! what a brilliant idea!

  • It's a shame i can't clap at your performance. I bet many who played your video missed that opportunity. GREAT!!! i WISH I COULD DOWNLOAD IT STEREO. good job man! excellent!!!

  • I applaud your creativity and musicality! Tastefully and beautifully done...

  • very nicely played I think

although you didn't play all of it I think - you left out the slide section

  • I think there are only 2 chords thru this Joes Garage track?

  • dreamy

  • nice job dude

  • Really really brilliant. Shimmering and delicate. This is one of the best Zappa readings I've heard since the acoustic Sofa. Thanks for making our day--we played it for the baby due in July.

  • seriously awesome. seriously.

  • great

    5 stars

  • Mesmerizing, great arrangement :-)

  • thank you for playing frank's music ... keeps him alive

    very nice, really

  • BRILLIANT

  • hey, may I ask you what gauge of strings you use? thanks again for this wonderful arrangement

  • Hi, the strings are .011 - .014 - .018 - .028 - .038 - .049, tuned half step down. Thank you, I'm glad you like the arrangement! :-)

  • @mauraxe Its also played in 4/4 and 5/4 time.

  • AWESOME !

    Thank you ! 5 stars !

  • I love this song. Only frank would do it in nine

  • Awesome, very innovative approach to that song!

  • hello !!! is that reverb comes from a verbzilla unit ??????

    nice playing :)

  • Thank you! No, that's an Eventide Eclipse...

  • Thanks for the post, it´s really beautiful! is that an american standard strato?

  • Thank you! The guitar is a '62 reissue, in an Eventide Eclipse and straight into audio interface.

  • Nice ! I'll try that one.

  • Haunting, melodic and beautiful

    NOICE ONE

  • you must be irish

  • so when can i give you money for your recordings? you are simply brilliant. why do something you are so good at for free.

have you played with heavy breeze?

  • Comment removed

  • so freaking sweat. My fav FZ inst. U R French? FZ like the French alot (sans toilet;)...

  • Thank you! No, I'm Italian, just like Conlon Nancarrow, Warren Cuccurullo, Al DiMeola and Alvin Lee...:-) So, I can't turn any peter green...

  • Made me cry. I think Frank would definitely give you credit for an arrangement very well done.

  • Yep. Still Amazing. I think I'll go and play my last imaginary guitar solo now. :) Hey, Just for kicks, add a comment with the vocal parts to the beginning of the Zappa recording and click audio preview. :D

  • fantastic. that was beautiful.

  • Bravíssimo Maurete!

  • nice!

  • Awesome arrangement!!! Very beautiful.

  • even though this is a little out of whack sounding, there is something mesmerizing about this arrangement . doing the bends on the whammy bar gives it a great atmospheric feel.

  • Thank you so much for your beautiful rendition of my favorite FZ instrumental.

    Brilliant.

  • Nice. Strange but nice, just like it should be.

  • Amazing!!

  • Great googly moogly! :^)

  • amazing friend

  • Truly excellent by the way.

  • FRANK MARVIN

  • Hi hi :-) The mistery man or the man of mistery?

  • Absolutely beautiful rendition of a gorgeous song - thank you

  • very nice pal! congrats!

  • ¡Gracias!

  • Very moving...and difficult to play as is most of Franks work..One of his most haunting tunes...great job!!

  • Beautiful! I know it's a Zappa tune, but this version reminds me of the Durutti Column

  • That was more than incredible !

  • thats amazing!

  • So far out of tune it must be the transfer between audio and mpg ?

  • No, my Stratocaster tuning is half step down... then there are some whammy bar glitches!

  • yeah man. you need a fully locking mechanism to pull this off.

  • Really nice, but a little bit out of tune. great job

  • pretty damn impressive mate, i know how hard that is to play. nice one..

  • Wonderful. I'm speechless.

  • Fantasic! really wonderful to listen to. Excellent what you can do with a guit! I would def like to hear the accoustic version you mention you play of this tune.

My only constructive criticism would be for you to beef out the imperial a little more and grow your hair a bit longer! :)

  • Thank you! Maybe I'll post the acoustic version, sooner or later. I'll work on the imperial, 'cause I can't grow my hair: my girlfriend forbids me... :-)

  • Forse 5 stelle è poco....

Questo per me è il più bel brano, e quello che lo suona, è il più bravo fingerstyler di Italia. Grande Mauri, strepitoso, eccellente, come persona e come chitarrista.

    By Dj Dado

  • I think this is a wonderful interpretation of the song. It has a real ethreal quality i totaly dig.

  • forget about the whammy, its unique. theres just too much reverberation. i like the arrangement though

  • Beautiful arrangement. Keep up the good work.

  • 5 stars, easy vote

  • Absolutely beautiful...

    I betcha Frank is smiling :) :)

The only small bit of constructive criticism I would offer follows what jcubie said... a wee bit too much whammy.

  • Thank you, you're very kind :-) About the whammy thing, thank you (and jcubie) for the advice; usually I play this on acoustic guitar, but sometime I like to experiment... not always with the best outcome!

  • I'd like to hear the accoustic version. Again, awesome.

  • WOW it bring tears to my eyes

    I waana learn it

  • Sooooooooo good! I dont understand how you can play these zappa songs the way you do.. Keep it up man! :)

  • I liked it. It's my favorite Zappa song.

  • Very clever, but a bit too much whammy for me.
