Since the weapons all seem to function the same as their current time counterparts, it all comes down to the ammunition. The 90mm cannon on the tank could be better if more advanced powder gives it better velocity and penetration. The 14.5mm sniper in Halo also has slightly larger ammo than today's Barrett M82/107's that would work better against conventional armor.
