yea. I don't have one (but I would love one), but if you get one with an acoustic/electric feature, it allows you to plug one into an amp so you wouldn't be drowned out. I don't know how it would fare without the amp, though. Hope this answers your question.

Beatuiful tone and great technique, but you are hurrying the tempo. Try to listen to the drummer and play in time with him, not the bass player. The notes have to be precicely as notated or maybe slightly laid back, this is extremely important for the kind of relaxed groove of this song.

A lot of bass players rest their thumb on the string below what they are playing, it helps with muting. As for the E string, well that is just a matter of preference, and getting used to, some people like doing it without resting their thumb on the pickup(I myself need somewhere to rest my thumb though).

When I started mine where as well, I kept getting that buzzing from not pushing on the note hard enough and not close enough to the frets. It takes a lot of practice. Now that I am able to play a bit better I feel Bass is an amazing instrument, I love it much more than guitar.
