An interesting attempt, but, severly lacking in solemnity (at least for this section.) Part 1 of this posting presents a better realization.

I did not play this scene for solemnity, as that would be (in my opinion) a misrepresentation of what Beckett wrote. The younger Krapp talking on the tape is recalling a moment of happiness before his subsequent "farewell to love". Were this moment treated with solemnity then there would be little regret at its loss and Krapp's life decisions would seem less consequential. In fact, why bother to listen to the tape at all?

Thank you for replying to my post. To clarify - I only refer to the recitation, which comes across a bit casualy or, if you like, "matter of factly." These lines rank among the most poignant in 20th century literature/theatre. Greater profundity is, in my opinion, warranted here. Your Krapp as listener is, on the contrary, very well done. Please forgive any negative impression I might have given. The performance is excellent!
