@Vicanisme actually, Carlisle didn't originally turn her for himself, he turned her for Edward. He thought that Esme could be Edward's mate but after she woke up as a vampire, they fell for each other. Point being, I think that look was misinterpreted.

@Kriztail40 hm.. actually I have to disagree with what you're saying.. Esme and Carlisle met first in 1916 when Esme still was human and when she had broken her leg. Carlisle remembered her (and what I think is that he liked her) and that's why he turned her..
