We had a winchell's in Texas and I passed it every day before and after school (I walked)... (I also passed a Jack In The Box) but then they closed Winchell's and made it into a Braum's Ice Cream. Oh the torture. (Yes I had a weight issue... so what!!) LOL I miss both of them!
I'm 46 now, but I remember everyone at school talking about that ad. We used to say it didn't necessarily sell donuts, it sold whatever was in the fridge Right Now!
Agree with all....great donuts...some of the best glazed donuts of all time...definitely remember this commercial growing up...like all of you, the back drop still there but another pitiful donut shop is there like "Donut King" or something...nothing can replace the original....EVER! Great post!
I remember Winchell's when I was a kid. 15th Ave and McDowell Rd in Phoenix, AZ. In fact, as far as I know, even thought the place is closed, the shape of the sign is still there as another store. I really liked their donuts and miss the old days. My favorite is the chocolate and maple... good stuff.
