The Navy is most important, because we are all alone in the middle of the ocean. Aircraft carriers will be rendered useless because we don't have a sufficient population to run many of them (5000+ crew on one ship, plus extra crew for the protecting destroyers & submarine). Interesting that the ANZAC class frigate you showed had no Phalanx CIWS or Harpoon SSM fitted. I also noticed that there were a limited number of Sea Sparrow missiles fitted in the VLS of the ANZAC frigate shown. Which raises a number of questions why is it that ANZAC frigates are often deployed with no CIWS system fitted especially when they are deployed to close range environments like the Persian gulf on embargo and anti-piracy missions would be when the CIWS would be most needed?

You get to do heaps of PT, everyone looks out for each other, you get to work with the special forces and do commando shit, blow things up not to mention go diving alot hahah. They're the only people who enjoy their job. You also have a never ending supply of pussy, every WRAN(female sailor) has or wants to fuck a diver.

The Navy is most important, because we are all alone in the middle of the ocean. Aircraft carriers will be rendered useless because we don't have a sufficient population to run many of them (5000+ crew on one ship, plus extra crew for the protecting destroyers & submarine). We need to expand on the Navy's forces & get rid of the useless army forces. Also, we should get some more patrol boats or a permanent coast guard system, too many asylum seekers are annoying -.-

the RAN's job is to protect Australia, hence the name Australian DEFENCE force, and for our population size, our navy is about the right size,
plus who needs lots of big ships when all we need to do is call in our bif brothers the US

@danger661 I always liked the idea of us having a super powerful navy too, but it's really not that realistic for our country. Those that DO have them have to jump through all sorts of hoops to justify the costs. We're not bad as we are, as long as we have good allies beside us.

anzac carry sea sparrow not harpoon,s sparrow is a smaller more versatile weapon... as for CWS zacs are fitted for if theyt have to deploiy to the gulf or other active area

Interesting that the ANZAC class frigate you showed had no Phalanx CIWS or Harpoon SSM fitted. I also noticed that there were a limited number of Sea Sparrow missiles fitted in the VLS of the ANZAC frigate shown. Which raises a number of questions why is it that ANZAC frigates are often deployed with no CIWS system fitted especially when they are deployed to close range environments like the Persian gulf on embargo and anti-piracy missions would be when the CIWS would be most needed?

Im a CSO-WORST JOB IN THE WORLD hands down. I you enjoy being yelled at whilst sitting in a chair staring at a computer for 5 hours straight and never sleeping then go ahead. Not to mention to chip rust, sand rust, paint the ship and dont fire weapons. Lots of tests, lots of studying in your own time, 80-90% pass marks, no trade skills, no respect.

Clearance Diver. Thats the only gig worth doing in the Navy. The training is very difficult but if you make it through you join the biggest boys club in the Navy. You get to do heaps of PT, everyone looks out for each other, you get to work with the special forces and do commando shit, blow things up not to mention go diving alot hahah. They're the only people who enjoy their job. You also have a never ending supply of pussy, every WRAN(female sailor) has or wants to fuck a diver.

@ManicallyMetal I am in the same position as you, join ADFA or join as a trade. Whatever you do, just don't join as Boatswains Mate, it looks cool and fun with the guns but once your in its a life of scrubbing, shitting and hardly any action. Do not get conned into joining as a BM.

@KyleStephens actually, china has no real large blue water navy. Which means they can protect their coasts but they dont have the naval power to travel long distances and invade countries. The only large blue water navies in the world are britain and the US. maybe some more.

@fmoa size of a navy matters very little now a days when a single destroyer can crush a fleet when it is armed with the most modern weapons in technology. and Australian navy uses most of the equipment that US uses. only chance china and india would have is if the Americans Down Under run out of missiles while atempting to sink every fishingboat armed with a kalashnikov that they call a navy. even then us Americans Up Above would be happy to resupply.

Our Australian Ships use allied (NATO, Commonwealth countries) resupply ships as well as port stops to refuel and resupply.
