CANT FIND THE REFINE EDGE TOOL? PRESS (W) and you will se it. Just select the "Quick Selection Tool" and it will be there!

@laomusic1 i found it ! turn the photos into a smartobject and then you go to "select" & refine edge should be able to be used :) hope this helped :)

@SpeedArtHD In fact, I am not the brightest, I don't think you could say anyone these days is the brightest. However, I am very intelligent if that is what you're referring to with the word bright. And if you're assuming you can't add a white background, then you are mistaken. Because if you didn't have a background at all, you could quite easily add a background layer, and fill it white. After that, flatten the image to merge both layers. This is simple, easy and works great ^_^

When I click on smart radius and increase the pixels of radius, my image becomes blurry instead of refined edged. . . Is there some problem with photoshop cs5 or in preferences or its my fault?

It fck up hair quite ofthen for me, even if its just a little little area, it kinda changes all the hair thats around, like a white gradient or something. really irritating.

i kept trying to refine the edges where there was no hair or furr with the radius tools and it MESSED UP THE SELECTION ... they should have said that the RADIUS thingy doesnt work well on all kinds of edges , but only on these with hair/fur

Yup! its easy to use with plain background !! but really difficult to use with colourful background like at stadium etc.

Refine edge works very well on a plain background (which is what most of the tutorials on YouTube use), but it is MUCH more difficult to use when there is a lot going on in the background. Decontaminate colors works to some degree, but this tool is not as amazing as it is usually portrayed. Don't get me wrong - it still saves time over the tedious old method, but it is not a 2 minute fix by any means.

@Casev07 right. i just watched the puppet warp demo off of iceflowstudio: thats pretty fucking sweet. i thought the CS4 solution for selecting specific content in a photo was nice and all but now seeing what adobe added. it really gets to me.

Adobe does try too hard to make money by holding back the program and releasing a few new tools at a time. between my bro & myself, we have only bought 2 full version of CS which is pretty decent considering how much adobe is trying to have us spend more.

bad bad example, its on a white background.. the easyest way to do it without callangin photoshop. YOu should use realistic photo. But for a example hows working its good. Thank you!

What is jbkrule said is true it's easy to select and refine edge if an image is against the white or black or plain background. But if you try to take out a person from busy market Refine Edge doesn't work for you. As you can see in youtube all of them demo using plain background.
