  • Hard to beat those 283s considering it was the second V8 Chevy made I think they hit a home run with it! It and the 327 are by far the best engines Chevy ever made.

  • That is amazing attention to detail!

  • 283 TurboFire 195 H.P. In 1958, chevy came out with the 348 engine.

  • is that the ol' square jet carb??

  • I wouldnt laugh. You can get alot of power out of one of those. Besides a 500hp isnt shit if your not getting that power to the ground. Looks great!

  • I am worried for you with an open fan blade. Beautiful engine detailing.

  • Thanks for keeping in orginal apperance and with the period.

  • im sorry i just hate 283s im more of a muscle car guy such as 396 402 359 or 455 454 heck or even a 427

  • Me too, but it's all Chevrolet had in 57.

  • @dacodoco

sure those big blocks are more powerful than the 283 but the little 283 will still run when the big blocks got blown up:) ! those small motors could take alot more beating than the big blocks that's for sure!

  • shut up this is where it all begain..283 is a great classic engine

  • @dacodoco you dont think a 283 that shifts at 10 grand is muscle car worthy?

  • @dacodoco I'd rather have this than my 292.

  • @dacodoco You hate 283s? I don't get it. The future small blocks would never have been make if not for the classic 283. -This is the engine that started the most successful and popular line up of engines ever. ...Hmm why didn't I say I hate the engines you mentioned because I prefer the newer, more powerful 502 and 571?

  • @bitoart He missed the 348 and 409 too. 283 was probably the start of it all. and just after that the first chevy big blocks (W-Motors) tore up the track. Wheres the love? 454's were powerful but you probably couldn't rev them as hard as you could a 283.

  • @dacodoco An engine's an engine... you can build a 283 to put out a respectable amount of power. I mean it's still a classic Chevy small block. Lower-displacement V8s like that can be great for daily drivers.

  • I want that OD switch!

  • Do you have any more footage of the chassis at this stage of your restoration? this is about where i'm at with my 57, thanks!

  • This was a frame that the body was removed and put on a Custom Chassis. I bought it and sold it as you see it. I used Youtube as a tool and attached the video to an Ebay ad.

  • thats all you need screw fuel injection just a carb points and good ole V8 horsepower

  • I love that original look man. She sounds healthy. Great work!

  • OUCH, that hurt.

  • imagine holding it wide open till it blew up ,lol
