Hard to beat those 283s considering it was the second V8 Chevy made I think they hit a home run with it! It and the 327 are by far the best engines Chevy ever made.
sure those big blocks are more powerful than the 283 but the little 283 will still run when the big blocks got blown up:) ! those small motors could take alot more beating than the big blocks that's for sure!
@dacodoco You hate 283s? I don't get it. The future small blocks would never have been make if not for the classic 283. -This is the engine that started the most successful and popular line up of engines ever. ...Hmm why didn't I say I hate the engines you mentioned because I prefer the newer, more powerful 502 and 571?
@bitoart He missed the 348 and 409 too. 283 was probably the start of it all. and just after that the first chevy big blocks (W-Motors) tore up the track. Wheres the love? 454's were powerful but you probably couldn't rev them as hard as you could a 283.
@dacodoco An engine's an engine... you can build a 283 to put out a respectable amount of power. I mean it's still a classic Chevy small block. Lower-displacement V8s like that can be great for daily drivers.
This was a frame that the body was removed and put on a Custom Chassis. I bought it and sold it as you see it. I used Youtube as a tool and attached the video to an Ebay ad.

is that the ol' square jet carb??

I wouldnt laugh. You can get alot of power out of one of those. Besides a 500hp isnt shit if your not getting that power to the ground. Looks great!
