As a guitar player myself, I find this astounding and inspiring! Jeff Beck is a master of the electric guitar! I can't think of another guitar player who is so devoted to expanding and reinventing the way he plays.
I'm sorry but this is so nail bitingly bad, you can tell even jeff at the end is like "damn that was bad", it sounds like the sort of thing you'd hear on some cheesy 80's movie, his girlfriend's just left him and he picks up his guitar and plays this tripe. the strings were nicely arranged, just way rather hear someone sing it.
i remeber seeing jeff on the jools holland show a few years ago and he blew the audience away with his skill but the funniest thing was after jeff had finished playing the guitar player in the next band on must have had his ego destroyed because instead of playing the rythym to his bands song he started trying to impress beck by playing solos in the middle of the song thats the affect beck had on him
@shredmaster100 and to top it off, getting on stage after jeff beck must be pretty overwhelming knowing the crowd just heard such and amazing musician. Now you gotta play your ass off to even get somewhat of a reaction from the already amazed crowd
i know ive played on a similar show before when i used to be a backup guitarist and had to follow marty friedman it was in london back about 2004 and marty came on with his band and kicked ass and then the band i was playing in at the time came on and we sucked badly i was so stunned by his playing that i completly messed up the song we were supposed to be doing and just started sweep picking and generally showing off i tell u it took more than a few beers to forget that performance
I can appreciate the abilities and artistic license taken here as his jazz and rock backgrounds are shown. He has the guitar sounding like a theremin. His take on this classic has the guitar "singing" the words, much like a saxophone is known. Now taking all of that in to consideration, I think his efforts would better serve his listeners using a different song. This one just does not fit his efforts.
What "wrong" notes? Theyre about as perfect as any1 else ive ever heard , if not better...he plyes with feeling , heart and never drops any notes! Great stuff!~
@MrMeddled After a small look on your channel, I can say you're the typical kind of people I dislike. Pretentious. "I listen to Pink Floyd you don't ? You obviously listen to shitty music then" Haughty. Dude, we both listen to great kind of musics, but there's nothing to brag about. That's what I call vanity. "Wisdomless" way to live.
@MrMeddled They've been hundreds like you before that told me the exact same thing on my first comment.. After that, you say I'm an insecure kid that play trough pcb-driven marshall full stack. Why do you judge me that way ? Dude you also should know that the Marshall JTM45 reissue, for example, is PCB driven. You told me I was using my eyes before my ears, but it seems you're the type of guy who look after the quality of the amp before the sound it makes. You're very illogical.
@MrMeddled This has nothing to do with this conversation. Does it ? I feel good with myself if that's what you wanna know. Stop judging people on the internet, this is pathetic. Act your age.
@MrMeddled Damn, you people don't fucking understand a word of what I said. I said I was impressed because he has the balls to come on stage with two fucking mini amps instead of a big full stack like all the famous guitarists do. I don't really give a fuck about Jeff Beck, I don't like his music, but I acknowledge he's a brilliant guitarist that doesn't need expensive gear to make something good. You judge me and you don't even know who I am. I'm playing inexpensive gear and I'm happy with it.
He's still my fave. If you want to hear a mistake, on the newer one with Jools Holland Drown In My Own Tears, listen to at the 3:08 mark, it's actually a wrong note.
@maxkaschhimself Believe me Jeff Beck is my favorite guitarist in the world and all time ,however I have been playing guitar for 45 years and at the 3:08 mark it is an obviously wrong note.
@ekpil: No sorry. It was only a note or 2 out here and there but even i noticed it and im no expert. What he done must be sooo hard tho so even the best balls up at times :-) Oh it is on youtube somewhere coz i saw it afew months ago.
That sound that he can coax from the Strat is truly the real voice of Jeff. What hasn't already been said about Jeff's skills as a guitarist? The Master.
