You can take it down just under 2mm at the edge at the extreme on this instrument as long as you keep the central area thick enough, Its just that its better to leave that final thicknessing for the final sanding after gluing
I was working quickly in the video as it was just below freezing and snowing, I condensed the video down from 30 minutes to 10 minutes for youtube, The main thing is to take it real slow!!

I am certain I would overdo it and end up with a wafer thin edge!
