The mp3 encoding of the audio with the digital aliasing makes it impossible to judge accurately how either mic actually sounds. Rent them both and check them out for yourself, this video is virtually useless from a comparison standpoint.
I got the Rode because of the price and fantastic quality for that low price, but if you have the extra cash get yourself the 416 as it's off-axis rejection is about 30% better than the rode. The rode is a wonderful booth VO mic as it really isn't a true shotgun, more a super cardioid condenser. It's 'warmer than the 416 at close proximity but tends to loose the top end at distance where as the 416 as you can hear maintains the top end. ntg2 also has a low cut switch that can catch wind noise
Rode sounded better to me at distance. May have been SLIGHT more "crispness" in the 416? but that didn't make it BETTER to me. Which mic do you think has better off axis rejection? listened to this with headphones and just went back and forth from left to right. Actually my right ear picks up high frequencies better than my left! Ha. that might explain the "crispness" difference I was experiencing.Turning my headphones around! Thanks for the vid! Might buy that rode.
so this will EASY pick up voices from 2 meters away outside? im doing a film soon need a shotgun mic

Have you experienced bad noise when using a t-power mic with phantom power adapter on a recorder, mixer, etc.?

That background noise on the Røde/Rode is actually kind of pleasant... I'm not bothered by it...

The Senneheiser is clearly better.

@MrAschorle the NTG2 costed only +-200 dollars. For this price, the sound quality is unbeleavable.
