I remember my dad telling me that during WW2 while serving on board a carrier that they were in a storm that almost sunk much of the fleet. He told of looking up from the 50' deck and seeing a wave coming down onto the deck that almost washed him off had he not been able to grab a railing. From his description it must have been nearly 100' high!
