You say the Divide 57c is way to expensive, yet you want a whole lot more and for such a board to have a joystick port, sound port, video out, LAN, flash card slot, a set of speakers and 512k RAM pack. Get real man ! These devices are not commerically made, they are built by entusiasts BY HAND. If you whinge at the cost then go and buy the Divide 57c in kit form, built it yourself and then you'll see why you have to pay extra coz somebody spent hours assembling it.
You want it in a nice black case? Not difficult; the Divide 57c fits perfectly inside an empty Atari 2600 cartridge. That is If you aren't afraid to use a hacksaw and take some time over it. As for your stiffy, I can't help you with that.
You can't see the point of having a KEMPAY if you can't play 128k games? Well their are quite a few games that use the AY sound that "claim" to be 128k, but do not utilise 128k of memory. For those pieces of software you will get 128k sound. Second point is alot of Russian software uses these type of AY boards. Second point, is the KempAY allows you to connect up a decent set of speakers rather than having the sound comming through some crappy tv set.
Divide 57c works on 48k and +2A, +2B and +3 and Timex branded Spectrums. On +2A, +2B and +3 you need to attach jumper JP2 on the Divide, whereas on 48k models you need to detach jumper JP2 on the board. Divide has Fatware firmware installed - Fatware allows loading of Spectrums only, but not saving. Their are however alternative firmwares which will allow saving on the Divide but you will need to reflash the firmware. If my memory serves me correctly BSDOS allows saving.
Thats a nice little setup there. Those Divide interface's are brilliant I'm thinking of buying one myself. Can they be used with any model Spectrum. I have a Spectrum+ and also a +3 Spectrum, will one work on both of these models. Also is game saves possible with these like with the old multiface units. Thanks, Steve.
Divide 57c will work on both Spectrum 48k+ and Spectrum +3 (+3 has different signals on the edge connector, so you need to attach JP2 jumper onto the board to get it working with a +3. The only thing you will miss is +3 BASIC - the interface comes with FATware firmware installed, and this is designed to reset to USR 0 (48k mode for compatability with games. This is not caused by the hardware design of the interface itself, but the FATware firmware.
