  • whats the song

    ?

  • @nhot2 Jim Zartman- "Act Of Worship". Please search him on You Tube. A wonderful talent who uses his voice to reach many.

  • Awesome Shawn

  • I have no problem with people who sin against themselves and God, for we all fall short and need repentance. I only have a problem with a sin that can lead many to go against the word of God. In this instance, I'll WATCH, FIGHT, AND PRAY. I don't plan on taking any souls out of the kingdom of God with wrong teaching. Some do it out of ignorance, which is understandable; but, many follow that ignorance because of its appealing presentation. Be not deceived. God is not mocked. That's all I'm sayin

  • And that's EXACTLY WHAT HE DID. HE MADE AN IMAGE AND BOWED TO IT. THIS IS NOT ABOUT JUDGEMENT. IT'S ABOUT TELLING PEOPLE TO ACKNOWLEDGE GOD IN ALL THEIR WAYS. PAY ATTENTION TO SCRIPTURES, BEFORE YOU LEAD PEOPLE DOWN A PATH OF ERROR THAT THEY CAN'T SEE FOR THE LOTUS FLOWERS THAT HAS THEM ALL OOOO-ING AND AAAA-ING AT THE PAINTING. VERY ARTISTICALLY BEAUTIFUL. BIBLICALLY WRONG. OKAY? YOU HAVE ONE SOUL. RE-THINK THIS THING AND FIND ANOTHER WAY TO EXPRESS LOVE THROUGH ART. BLESS GOD WITH OBEDIENCE.

  • @KeneshaCoulibaly stop yelling

  • @KeneshaCoulibaly Kenesha, I appreciate your thoughts pertaining to the painted image of Christ. It has provoked deep thought on the issue for me. It is clear that you are very well versed in scripture but it's also evident that scripture can be interpreted in many different ways by many different people. Who is correct? I just can't help to reflect on that day in that room and feeling the presence of God. It sure felt right.

  • Here's more: Exodus 20 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5Thou SHALT NOT BOW DOWN THYSELF TO THEM, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

  • Someone inboxed me, "no matter what you believe and you're judging people." I judge no one. I simply post the scriptures. The scriptures have made it plain and left NO ROOM FOR MIS-INTERPRETATION. And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt. Jeremiah 25:6

  • Absolutely stunning...Beautiful rendition of our Lord Yahshuah. Bless you.

  • God bless you sir. It is so good for me to have images that remind me of what Christ did for me so many years ago. May God continually bless and keep you is my prayer.

  • Wow que bien!

  • AWESOME! because Jesus is awesome!! and yes i have suffered in my life but I seem to come through stronger i am an artist also and i am greatly inspired by your work :) i love the expression in his face it also showed how much He suffered....

  • what's the name of the song? i love your paintings too =)

  • Exodus 31 Then the LORD said to Moses, 2 “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— 4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, 5 to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.

  • Everyone speaking of this as being idolatry are on the outside looking in. If you had the gift of art wouldn't you want to sacrifice it to God? People who are gifted in singing sacrifice it to glorify God. I myself have a God given gift in painting, and I give 100% credit to God for it. You can't take part of a scripture and make it what you want.

  • You can deny a man's opinion, but you CANNOT DENY THE WORD OF GOD. The people speaking of idolatry are not speaking their opinions. They are speaking God's words. HIS COMMANDMENT. WE MUST FOLLOW HIS COMMANDMENT . . . no matter how good the intentions.

  • @KeneshaCoulibaly So the "printed word" is not to be revered or followed? That means the Bible is not to be followed because it "can" be considered a graven image - an image of the word and acts of God, the almighty. Before we judge others, let us all remember that we are not to judge, for that job is to God, alone - well above the pay grade of ALL mortal men and women. If the painting were to be 'WORSHIPED,' holding it in reverence above or equal to God, then it is a sin.

  • @Rainmaker65 Again, you don't know your scripture. The Bible instructs on HOW to judge or discern . . . on how to have SOUND JUDGMENT in order to steer clear of the dangers of falling for the devil's snares. It is not my judgment, nor is it my word that says, "make no graven image, don't bow down and worship." IT IS THE WORD OF GOD. If you have a problem with God's Word, please take it up with Him. My only complaint is that error to self hurts self. Broadcast error takes too many souls with you.

  • @KeneshaCoulibaly No matter how much you misunderstand the commandment or the context of both the commandment or the act that you are judging or the heart of the person you are judging? Sorry, you have a bad interpretation. People don't have to believe like you do to be saved.

  • @EffieReal People ABSOLUTELY have to believe the WORD OF GOD TO BE SAVED. If we're talking of believing like I do, I BELIEVE IN HIS WORD. People just don't want to be committed to God's standard anymore. They want to bend the words of the Bible to suit their standards and desires. We've been warned of this THROUGHOUT the Bible. If anyone here is angry at the scriptures, he or she needs to take that up with God. I didn't write the Bible. I don't run from it's truth. I embrace it. I embrace God.

  • @KeneshaCoulibaly You pridefully misinterpret it. That's not the same thing.

  • Fellow Christians . . . hold tight to God in these times. He never changes. It's us doing all the changing and remixing the Bible with all these new translations that change the meanings. Stick to the KJV, add nothing, take away nothing. Let us do as Jesus instructed and "Live Holy." Let us not conform to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Let us believers walk together in love and strength. We'll need them both in these times. It has been written. Stay in the scriptures

  • @KeneshaCoulibaly KJV only-ism is idolatry.

  • We are truly living in a time of TOLERANCE. We must do AS THE BIBLE SAYS . . . not as WE WANT. The Bible CLEARLY TEACHES us not to make ANY IMAGES OF ANY GOD. Yes . . . it is idolatry. Perhaps this is done with good intention, but it is INDEED IN ERROR. It is this kind of tolerance that pulls us subtly away from our TRUE GOD. WE MUST BE CAREFUL PEOPLE OF GOD. WE MUST FOLLOW GOD'S WORD . . . AS IT IS WRITTEN. GOD BLESS.

  • We all need to remember why he died on the cross for US taking the weight of all our sins, misdemeanours, hatreds, temptations, our shame, we need to remember to keep Jesus in our hearts, I don't have the talent to paint Jesus but I, like you, can pray and give thanks to him for my gifts and my life

  • Thank you that is awesome! Very inspiring!

  • love one another is the commandment that christ told us.as it being a direct commandment from the father.

friend, amazing painting! you are blessed! lol!

  • Shawn, that was really cool. One of my favorite moments at VCC. too cool.

  • I love that he's using his gift to bring honour to God. I'm pretty sure God would be stoked by His gift. Even if the pic looks more like Robert Powell than Jesus :0)

  • wow im speechless great job

  • AWESOME

  • There always has to be someone who likes to rip people into pieces. This is one's own creation, and it is art. And art is Beautiful. In all forms. After all, isn't this what God gave us hands for? I don't consider this idoltry. This is interpretation. And, thou shalt not judge.

  • Burn all of your pictures of so-called Jesus! They are all idoltry!...They are not pictures of Jesus.

  • Wow. Thought-provoking and challenging!

There's a discussion going on over at Transpositions (a blog about theology and the arts) about this kind of painting in worship services - we'd love to have you come over and join the discussion.

  • that is really awesome. i appreciate your comments about art. I am a writer...

  • Shawn you are talented dude...but I could you remind me what the 2nd Commandment is?

  • @theez14 Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you voiced your concern but I must say that I politely disagree with the point that I feel you're trying to make. The physical piece is not worshipped in any way rather the image is used to evoke thought, emotion, and faith towards a higher power. I feel it is no different than a song which brings us closer to God (other than being a 3 dimensional object). I do appreciate your thoughts.

  • Late reply I know, but I agree. Just as a favorite fragrance could remind us of someone or something beautiful Jesus is THAT beautiful fragrance that we can be reminded of HIM even as an image of His face or the Cross. I wear a necklace that I bought at my church bookstore that is a metal dog tag style and says ALIVE IN CHRIST and I wear it daily as a reminder of who I am and whom I seek.

  • @theez14 I don't understand how the artist is not in line with the 2nd commandment.. Is he not worshiping God by painting in the first place and it seems the art brings people closer to God?

  • @theez14 I totally disagree with you, we worship Jesus through singing, painting, praying, and many other things. Shawn is blessed with such a talent to paint and he uses it to worship Jesus. Painting is also a medium as a mean to describe and express our feelings to Jesus. By painting we are able to show the world the emotion expressed by the painting itself. So, I am afraid you are wrong if you think that we actually worship the painting. We only worship Him, Jesus Christ for He is our God :)

  • @theez14 it says carved image. not painted.

  • Great job as always Shawn !

It was really cool to see how the foil goes on too.

  • Thanks be to the King of Kings.. the Son Of God.

Thank you for taking the time to bring this topic to the eyes and lives of the people who unknowingly walk the path to evil. Your painting may be that last thing they needed, to see the path that leads to God's Kingdom.

  • This is amazinngg!!

Does anyone know what type of paint he is using??

  • Blessed Be The Name of our KING JESUS, - PEOPLE PREPARE - HIS COMING IS SOON - ARE YOU READY? FOR THE KING OF KINGS? LORD JESUS CHRIST

  • Sure he is about to come? People have been expecting him every year since he died. What makes you think you are right. You will be dead before Jesus comes again if he does.

  • @cmd4christ I AM READY! PRAISE GOD!

  • Awesome! Maybe you can come do this at Radient in Surprise, Az

  • just, - beautiful...... I have no words left - thankyou Jesus, thankyou......

  • another example of God's work through those that offer Him their hands.

I will surely keep this in mind for my next project, thank you for sharing it.

the people in your church must be rising with each stroke that you take as they watch the paintings come together

  • this is awesome!

how long did it take you?

keep up the good work, man!

  • fantástico é pouco... cara você é demais!

    Maravilhoso.

  • fantastic! you're such a gifted man- keep doing for God's glory!

  • what a moment....

  • Awesome as always. It touches my heart when I look at it.

  • Thanks for viewing.

  • Yes!!!! That is fantastic! Thank you for coming and sharing what you have been given. Thank you for adding to the beauty and helping people take another look at the power of the cross- art that inspired art. Thank you for using my song "Act of Worship" as the backdrop- its an honor for sure!

  • Jim, I owe all the thanks for the experience and for what you do week in and week out. You're a true inspiration who uses his talents like we all should. Thanks!

  • First, thank you. Beautiful, it is so fast to paint this work of art. thank you for sharing.

  • Thank you. The painting actually takes a lot longer than the video reveals but it was a labor of love. Thanks for viewing!
