  • hear john say..' love that' as he's effectively playing half of 'you really got me' by the kinks one year before them but gets swamped in the mix..0.17

  • 0:22 xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Ringooo!! x'D

  • 2:57 Paul & John. This is the best picture ever.

  • I want Paul to boss me around.

  • RINGO!! jjaj

  • 0:20 RINGO!!! XD

  • When The Beatles were more John's band, they were together, when Paul started taking over too much it became a joke, "hello, goodbye" romper room shit like that... definitely not John's Beatles anymore by that time. "you say walk, I say trot, you say maybe, I say why not?"... "now lets work on our multiplication tables kiddies"

  • @XenoType008 Mulitiplication tables might have been more compelling than "Number 9, number 9, number 9..." Yes, when the Beatles were John's band, they were more together but not because they were John's band. It was because they were a young band and just about every band starts out more together in their early days. John was great, Paul was great but they made each other even greater.

  • dammit. I almost cry hearing this one.

don't know how can there are 9 shithead that dislike it. fuk them!

  • Paul's best:

(George)can we do it slower? (Paul)No!

(John)Ringo keep your bit dead. (Paul) RINGO!!!

(me) i wanna meet Paul and Ringo (my sister) TO BAD, I GET TO MEET THEM FIRST!!!!!

  • @lydiammajors John asks to do it slower, which Paul rejects, and it's actually Paul who directs Ringo on the intro. Really!

  • @DarkKokiri i am subscribed to you!! i see you like the beatles too ;)

  • Paul's "Shhh" is so sexy :)

  • AHAH

Paul : ' Cleaning beginning now! ' (NOT CLEAN ahaha )

  • ROFL im losing it over here XD

  • RINGO!!!!

  • 9 people have no hands

  • Oh, I love how Paul bitches around <3

  • Who screamed RINGO!!! after Paul said "Ringo keep your bit dead"?

  • @misspurity91 Probably John...

  • haha John is freaking awesome! <3

  • If only we could hear the rest at 0:45. Too bad there arent more takes drifting out there.

  • Its George who says "Do it slower"

    Its sound exactly like him.

I can see why people might think its John though.

  • @ACX352395 It's clearly Lennon.

  • @gpc

after listening to it after a while it is john XD

The little part after Paul says NO! is when I noticed it was John. :)

  • rickenbacker 12 string, i have one of those :D sounds awesome!!!

  • love these collections that bring you in the studio and gives you some history behind the tracks. thanks for sharing

  • Clean begginning now. Ringo! Keep your bit dead. These guys were so young and had it all figured out musically.

  • Anybody else notice that if you start the count, as they did, and keep counting 4/4, when the buildup into the first verse come, the timing is off. There's like an extra half beat in there just before the vocals start. I found this learning this song on my guitar. After listening to it again and again, I think it is an editing mistake. It's apparent by the volume change at the beginning of the build up going into the verse.

  • @jsmyers24151

It wasn't an editing mistake, or any other error; it was a deliberate stumbling introduction.

  • Sound Engineer: "I Want to Hold Your Hand, Take 1"

    John: "Do it slower--"

    Paul: "NO"

    XD gotta love Lennon/McCartney

  • Beatles are the Jesuschrist's reincarnation

  • the intro is like pushing through a hymen, much better than holding hands :))

  • Ringo keep your bit dead! WE KNOW!!!!! Lol!

  • Shut the f*ck up, Paul!!!

  • @Nowhereman90 -If you knew ANYTHING about The Beatles, you'd know it was Paul's muscially genius and his "pushiness" that kept them together. If we had to rely on John's drug use and state of mind from being high all the time and being brainwashed by Madame Nu, The Beatles would have ceased to exist by 1967. If you appreciate anything by them after 1967 thank Paul. And I say shut the f**k up YOKO!

  • @HeartInThe60s Right on, excellent comment. George and Ringo were cool too. John was all messed up.

  • @HeartInThe60s

    Spot on.

There was a backlash against Paul in the years after John's death. Thankfully that seems to have subsided now and Paul is again being recognised as the driving force within the group in addition to being a musical genius. John was a creative talent, no doubt about that, but creativity alone isn't enough. Paul understood the whole process from songwriting to final production and his genius lay in his understanding of how to blend pure innovation and tradition.

  • @Nowhereman90 see, if you know who they were, then you would under stand that the beatles wouldn't have even gotten very famous without paul keeping them streight, and if paul weren't around they would have crashed by the 60's, so go back to the devil's daughter (Yoko) hater

  • @lydiammajors Is amazing how for one joke comment i made eight months ago, i still receive hate responses from these geeks. I know plenty of things about the beatles. You re right about Paul but please, dont bother me, you internet strangers

  • 00:23 - Ringo left his drums without permission. <3

  • Just a couple of guys hanging out on a street corner with guitars

  • Tolles Video, wie immer

  • I know John's voice as "lets do it slower" its not George.

  • Does anyone know who the Beats are? As a 21 year old, stuck in the 60's I was give a record by the Beats and they sing this song. Poor aunt tried to tell me it was the Beatles, no dam way. The record sleeve on the front says The Beats. Thank you.

  • @TheBeatlesfan1964 HaHaHa. That's a Good one. I'm slow at getting Things. But Got That right away.

  • Ringos awsome

  • guys, it's clearly george (not john) who speaks after martin's "take one". just watch some interviews and stuff like that. it's george, i'm 99% sure.

  • At 2:28 -- Where was THAT used for the Strawberry Fields Forever / Penny Lane single cover? That photo looks like its from the replacement-photo session for the Yesterday & Today LP cover in 1966 (after the controversy of the "butcher" cover).

  • Very nice photoes. Congratulations!

  • If if weren't for Paul, the Beatles would have sounded sloppy

  • RINGOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Do it slower.. NO!

  • "Ringo, we're taping!" xDDDDDDDDD

  • RINGO! WE'RE TAPING!

  • very interesting, thanks for the share !!! Marie

  • this was a brand new sound back then. true innovation that is :))

  • Regrettably, voice recognition accuracy is ignored by posters, probably in some attempt to convince themselves that Paul was in someway the Beatle's leader and minimizing John's contributions. The voice is clearly George's voice as anyone (most) familiar with the four Beatles voices would attest. Also, Paul would be the first to admit that he (or anybody) could impose his (their) will on Lennon. This is just fact and not siding with John or Paul.

  • @feynman35 Thats John, not George.

  • It is clearly George who says "Let's do it slower" .... Not even close. If John wanted to do it slower it would have been done slower - Period.

  • @feynman35 False. Anyone familiar with their voices can tell that that's Lennon, not Harrison. And McCartney was perfectly capable of imposing his will on Lennon in the studio, especially on a song (like this one) that they truly co-wrote. Plus, the "let's do it slower" was said in a way that made it clear that even Lennon wasn't too sure about it.

  • @gpc In the times of expensive analogic recording tape even being a beatle one would have a tendency to use shhh to minimize the chatter during recording time.

  • 0:18...it's sounds like ''vamos lá'' in portuguese, that means ''let's go''

  • RINGOOO!

    We're tapin'.

  • Paul is saying 'No' to George, not John. George asked to do it slower. John and George have similar voices, but George's voice is a little 'scousier' , After decades of hearing interviews of all the Beatles, I can tell the difference between them no problem. And since it is George, Paul had no qualms against shutting him up.

  • @happenstanceman it's lennon pauls telling to shutup not george

  • @happenstanceman are you sure? it's sounds a lot like Lennon

  • @happenstanceman It's for sure Lennon -- 100 against you!

  • A very Great song.

  • This is quite possibly the greatest pop-rock song ever composed....

  • Phenomenal ! The very first performances and recording (in studio) of "I Want to Hold You Hand" This is a collectors' dream !

They were the very best and take me back to times of fun and innocence. Wish you could have lived back then.. No band young or old has since created the excitement these guys did. It was wonderful to be alive back then !

  • It would be awesome to see a video of them doing this. I wish I could see the look on John's face when Paul told him to "Shh!" and also Paul's face when he yelled at Ringo!

  • RINGOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUU 0:21

  • 2:27 they still look kinda beatlemanish they hav longer hair when they were in the video john looked completely different, did they record strawberry fields with the moptop hair?

  • @nightcrawler511 No, they had already grown moustaches and Lennon had his "How I Won the War" shorter haircut and granny glasses when they recorded Strawberry Fields. The record company just used a photo that was several months old (from some time in '66).

  • Where i the rest of the rare intro take? want to hear the rest.

  • One of the most perfect 3 minutes in history. The other most perfect are She Loves You. I ♥ Paul & The Beatles.

  • when john plays the C then D chord paul tells him to shhhhh then he's like i love tht lol it is an awesome beat john

  • Please get the rest of the rare intro and put it out as a take. plz

  • Omg The most awsm of awsmest songs .The Beatles are the greatest

  • i love how john plays his rythym bit seperately at 0:15. that really drives the song, and now i know what sound i need :)

  • Oh My poor Ringo!!!!

  • "take it slower" "NO!"

  • Ha! "Do it slower" "NO!"

  • ringo has a temper

  • was not born at this time, but it makes me go back in time like magic

  • @charlesurbana lol me too

  • This was The Beatles first 4 track recording.

  • RINGO

  • Ringo is messing around on his kit (as a drummer, I also plead guilty on all counts - of driving my band members crazy!). Paul is not being bossy at all, just getting some focus. John adds a lot of humor by jokingly yelling, "Ringo."

  • Well don't forget, the Beatles weren't the band they would become yet. So studio time was scarce and they had to get a lot done in a short amount of time. So Paul was just trying to get things done. I have to admit he sounds a little over-bossy here but eh, in the confines of a band, you usually don't care. Except maybe after a bunch of years..which is exactly what happened :)

  • lol why'd he shout at Ringo?

  • paul was just as bad!!

  • john was so demanding wasnt he???!!!

  • Haha, omg. He's so bossy.

    But I love it =D

I would, honestly, be the same. I'm a very impatient and bossy person.

  • who's bossy i coulden't reconize the voice? was it paul?

  • I like when Paul's getting on Ringo about his drumming.

"Ringo, keep your bit dead...RING-O!!!!!! We're taping!!--No,the first one-is loud; attack!"

    XD love these guys!

  • Actually, this is how it went. Paul says "Ringo, keep your bit dead." then Ringo says "WE KNOW!!". It is Ringo that is getting inpatient and yells. THen Paul drops his tone and says "we're taping". Why would Paul be yelling RINGO!! when he already stopped playing the drums?.

  • Legaaaaaaalllll.....Muito legal.

    Rare

  • This confirms what Martin and Emerick said, that Paul was the Musical Director of the Beatles.

  • A long growing perception of mine -- that Paul led the band in a number of ways. Paul's great ear for music guides a important portion of the dynamics behind their unique sound. His understanding of the beat is nuanced and complex, but always very fundamental, too.

  • its verry good song in videoe clip they com number one in USA IN 1964

  • Lol Paul :)

  • Paul the most fluid spontaneous player. His creativity and musicianship and vocals boosted The Beatles to their lofty height.

  • @neutrolino Paul was a factor to the Beatle's break up however because of his bossy attitude, disagreements, and tensions within the band.

  • @greenhalos725 if paul was any, and i mean any, different, we wouldn't have the beatles

  • @27dedrummer wrong if Paul was less douchey we'd have had the Beatles longer at least..."hey George don't play the way you want, play the way I WANT, hey Ringo, you're playing the drums wrong, let ME PLAY INSTEAD... John, I've got 20 songs to record... let's work on those... we'll get to yours later ok"

  • @greenhalos725 they were all like that to each other, let's not single anyone out because i'm sure each beatle thought "he" was a victim but all of them were guilty in the end.

  • @neutrolino -McCartney is a freakin GENIUS! IMHO, the most talented and musically gifted person in music of our lifetime.

  • "ringo, keep your bit dead.... RINGO!!!!!!!!! we're taping!"

    XD i <3 paulie

    <3 john and paul 4 ever <3

  • Ringoo! Were taping!

  • Can anyone say to me what is saying Paul when he shouts at Ringo: "Ringo, keep your _____"

    What's ______?

    P.S. I'm italian.

  • "Ringo, keep your bit dead" Basically, play your part perfectly.

  • Thanks!!

  • How can they kill the band that wrote the song? You can't do it better than the Beatles. If it's any different, than it isn't played the same as the original.

  • i waaaanna hold your haaaand <3<3

  • It's seems to me that John always knew that Paul was always thinking of the group as a whole but when it came down to it John was the dominate personality (leader) when he chose to be.

  • "WE KNOW!!" man oh man how i love the sound of those guitars on this one

  • rare take is till :46 sec

definitive take was Number 18, by the way.....

  • It's on Anthology 1, i think.

  • whatever anyone says about mcCartney and however annoying he may appear he knew what he was doing....all for the good of the song!!!

  • "RINGO!!!!.... were tapeing"

  • see what live singers went thru compaired to what they try to say is a live recording.... makes you wonder who is getting riped off ???

  • That´s not a rare intro, you are hearing the John guitar line on front. The arrangements are the same of the definitive take.

  • is paul screaming ringo, or is ringo screaming i know?

  • it's Paul shouting "Ringo!" :D

  • Paul's very funny on this, but perhaps a bit domineering... :D

  • says something, doesn't it?

  • that John and Paul were close mates, and John admired and in some ways looked up to Paul (even though he was 2 years younger). And vice versa too.

  • 2:24 Ringo playing a guitar? LOL!!

  • Paul: Ringo! Keep Your Bit Dead.

    Ringo: WE KNOW!!!!!!!!!

    ROFDOL

(Rolling On Floor Dying Of Laughter) XD

  • Ringo doesn't shout that. That's Paul shouting 'RINGO!', not Ringo shouting 'We know'

  • Oh. Whoops! :p

  • RINGOOOO...!!!

  • Lennon: "Let's do it slower."

    McCartney: "No!! Shh!"

LOL. McCartney was probably the only human alive who could talk to Lennon like that. Well, him and Aunt Mimi.

  • So funny!

Yeah I agree that Paul could get away with it!

  • @gpc and Yoko

  • @gpc and Yoko

  • @gpc I also heard a "bleedin' idiot" right after the "Shh" xD <3

  • @indigo321 It sounds a little like "bleedin' idiot," but it's not -- after the "Shh!" he says, softly, "clean beginning now."

  • @gpc hahaha awsome comment xD

  • I would say that John is the most creative genious in the band, but Paul was a leader (created the "sgt peppers" concept..) and definitively loved the beatles more than John... Anyway John wasn't "only sleeping" ; )

  • ringo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lolll ringoooo! jajaja xD

  • The Beatles were really tight vocally right from the begining, they brought on a whole new sound.

  • RINGO! xD

  • RINGOO!

  • "WE KNOW!!"

    Hahahaha

  • "Keep your BIT dead" could refer to the hihat being closed, during the "and when i touch you part "in the middle.

  • RINGOOOOO!!!

  • please how can anyone make an opinion about paul mccartney from such a short record. Of course everyone knows he was bossy and that's what helped making the Beatles the best band ever! he wanted the best possible! and that wasn't supposed to be mean on ringo. They all liked one another! Loving the Beatles is loving all of them. And Paul was right about the "let's do it slower" "no!!" lool

  • Love this stuff

  • great,ty

  • Can someone explain me what does "keep your beat dead" means?

  • I THINK Paul said "keep your BIT dead," as in your part. He's trying to get a quiet start for the next take, methinks.

  • And about John's comment that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles, that was pure crap and John regretted it deeply. He later said wonderful things about Ringo as a drummer that nobody bothers to quote. Why do people enjoy putting Ringo down? If the Beatles hadn't hired him when they did THEY wouldn't have happened. And please listen to some old '50s R&R sometime -- Ringo was the first true rock drummer. Not fancy, just a fabulous backbeat and wonderful "feel" for music.

  • I agree whole- heartedly. These men trusted each other's talents and depended on each other. That was one of there core strengths, I believe.

  • Just for the record, I'm a huge Ringo fan, and I don't for a moment thing Paul was "yelling" at him. This was back in the beginning when they were all, as Ringo has often said, "just four guys who really loved each other." They're just kidding around in the studio. Paul's just letting Ringo know they're going to try another take, so they need everything quiet (including the drums) to get started. This is just light hearted fun, not an argument.

  • There's nothing wrong with Paul's bossiness here, don't forget that they were a bunch of guys from a rough neighborhood, this is just how they talked to each other. No time to be sensitive. They definitely mellowed out as they became more "civilized."

  • Paul is NOT bossy he was just getting the job done he may of wanted to go home or something. Or he slept late and he was tired. I guess people saying he is a bossy pants and that John is the best beatle are NOT beatle fans because a true beatles fan likes ALL the beatles! (just saying)
