the cts DI is pretty impressive. i raced one here in miami on the 112 E. with my 93 LT1 formula i/e from 60-130+ and i walked it and finished about 4 cars ahead when we shut down
I don't think it was in sport mode. When in sport mode, the suspension tightens and RPM's go up faster. Love this car. It blows G35x away. My manual says that the car weighs 3,800 lbs. so I don't know where the 4000 lbs. figure is coming from (possibly 4,000 lbs. with all wheel drive).
4maticbenz: a 300lb difference is a big difference. The CTS is technically in a bigger class than the G35, which competes with the 3-series, A4, and C-class Mercedes. The CTS is in a class with the 5-series, E-class, A6, and so on.
I know it weighs close to two tons, but still, even a car with that weight and over 300hp should be getting to 100 in much less than 20 sec. SAE definetely overrated these engines....

Im just sayin that an Infiniti G35x with nearly identical power, torque, drivetrain, almost as much weight (3880 lbs vs. 4100), and even similiar gear ratios gets to 60mph 2 sec faster and to 100mph 7 sec faster. That puzzles me.
Engines aren't overrated. The SAE says the box puts out 304 hp. The CTS driveline must hog the power. That's the answer.
This car in RWD with a 6 speed manual can put down 0-100 mph in 15.5. Not bad, certainly what you would expect of a 304 hp car. The autobox + AWD + extra weight aren't doing it any favours.
It just doesn't put the power to the ground as well as the Infiniti even if the engines themselves have been rated as having similar outputs.

Instead of taking times for a 6MT which was clearly launched off the line and abused to get a 5.2 0-60, take a look at the TL which most people buy: One with an AUTOMATIC transmission. Since you like Edmunds so much, they tested a TL with AWD and a 5 speed auto @ 0-60 in 6.7 and 1/4 mile in15 flat @ 94 mph.
As we can see, the TL doesn't seem to do so great paired with the 5AT. Also I am interested to know what extra safety and features the TL has.

the cts DI is pretty impressive. i raced one here in miami on the 112 E. with my 93 LT1 formula i/e from 60-130+ and i walked it and finished about 4 cars ahead when we shut down
not bad for a 17 yr old LT1 with 119,000 mi.

I don't think it was in sport mode. When in sport mode, the suspension tightens and RPM's go up faster. Love this car. It blows G35x away. My manual says that the car weighs 3,800 lbs. so I don't know where the 4000 lbs. figure is coming from (possibly 4,000 lbs. with all wheel drive).

4maticbenz: a 300lb difference is a big difference. The CTS is technically in a bigger class than the G35, which competes with the 3-series, A4, and C-class Mercedes. The CTS is in a class with the 5-series, E-class, A6, and so on.

Im just sayin that an Infiniti G35x with nearly identical power, torque, drivetrain, almost as much weight (3880 lbs vs. 4100), and even similiar gear ratios gets to 60mph 2 sec faster and to 100mph 7 sec faster. That puzzles me.

Engines aren't overrated. The SAE says the box puts out 304 hp. The CTS driveline must hog the power. That's the answer.
This car in RWD with a 6 speed manual can put down 0-100 mph in 15.5. Not bad, certainly what you would expect of a 304 hp car. The autobox + AWD + extra weight aren't doing it any favours.
It just doesn't put the power to the ground as well as the Infiniti even if the engines themselves have been rated as having similar outputs.

I don't think you understand. Instead of taking times for a 6MT which was clearly launched off the line and abused to get a 5.2 0-60, take a look at the TL which most people buy: One with an AUTOMATIC transmission. Since you like Edmunds so much, they tested a TL with AWD and a 5 speed auto @ 0-60 in 6.7 and 1/4 mile in15 flat @ 94 mph.
As we can see, the TL doesn't seem to do so great paired with the 5AT. Also I am interested to know what extra safety and features the TL has.

GM calls their version of EBD "dynamic brake proportioning w/panic assist". And no, the Camaro engine was not modified. GM gave their 3.6 a conservative rating, and when tested again, it produced 312hp SAE certified. Idiot.

The CTS Only got a 5 star rating for the passenger. Driver got a 4 star.

Sorry buddy but it is not so. The 3.6L engine is SAE certified to produce 312HP - look it up. GM just re-rated the Camara v6, which is the same v6 in the CTS...Did you miss that as well, douche? GM's engine produces 90 percent of its torque from 1600 RPM all the way across the powerband, but of course you forgot that too? Did you forget the sand cast closed deck engine block, with forged bottom end and 6 bolt main caps? The TL has an inferior rotating assembly...sorry.

CTS has a better braking system than the TL - SH AWD...I don't know where you're getting your info from, but last I checked the CTS's 14.0 inch vented front dual piston caliper/13.3 vented rear discs beat the TL's 12.6 inch front vented and 13.2" solid rear rotors....Pathetic.
