I am fourteen years old and I just finished watching the movie for the first time in my life (on Christmas Eve). It was so fantastic, and it made me feel so happy!!! I am just so cheery now!!! It seemed really depressing before Clarence came, but then it was the happiest ending I have ever SEEN!!!! And it REALLY got me into the holiday spirit!!!
@01rai01 Well, I am just saying that most teenage boys my age would probably say it was stupid and not like it, but I really did. I feel as though my opinion is different from other boys my age.
just finished watching it for the one hundredth Christmas eve in a row and its still the greatest movie ive ever seen. true classic, a movie that has a meaning and truly touches your heart
i have yet to see this. even though its way before my time i still think i should watch it. its like saying "i've never seen the wizard of oz" or something. lol
Please Check out the Audio Book It's a Wonderful Life on 34th Street on our Channel. Our Ambition is to make this Wonderful Christmas Story into a Movie. It may be a dream but we need more Christmas Movies. Enjoy the Audio book it last approx 30 minutes- Merry Christmas
Dear all, I have uploaded a Christmas song called The Christmas Light by Paul Mayo. I know everyone does similar at Christmas time but this is a charity single...I'm not interested in chart places or personal success...would just be nice to spread some Christmas cheer and remind one another of the true meaning of Christmas.
The best movie for the Christmas Holidays. We love it! Of course we do because our cabin at ...tinyurl's page: wonderfulcabin ...is called (yes you guessed it): "It's A Wonderful Life" :-)
i have seen this movie, its my favorite movie of all times, i looked up the trailer to see if it was as good. horrible trailer, if i saw the trailer first i probably never would have seen the movie.
Donna Reed looks like Sandrine Bonnaire + Heather Graham for the eyes. In the scene where she's a spinster, she also looks a bit as Emmanuelle Béart would with hat and glasses. Also, Lionel Barrymore's acting style (expressions, prosody) has a _striking_ resemblance with Jack Nicholson's—or should I say Jack Nicholson's style is reminiscent of Lionel Barrymore's.
@eastariel the first time i watched this movie i was like wow what a great movie, i wasnt expecting much it being an old film, i want to make a difference in the world by killing off all the evil demonic ugly foul mouth black niggers and send them back to hell where they belong
I've been watching movie since i was a kid, and still look at it once in a while especially during tough, uneventful moments. One of the best movies ever made. Thanks for posting.
Love, love, love this movie. Although it was a Christmas release I don't think of it as a Christmas movie. Yes, it is supposed to be Christmas Eve in the movie, but practically nothing in the film has anything to do with Christmas. I like to watch it any time of year.
@TuberOnTheLoose I just saw it recently not even close to Christmas but man this film is amazing.I really liked the ending to. It kind of reminded me of a christmas carol except the good guy gets visited by the angel spirit instead of the bad guy. Another thing I found funny was that Mr.Potter he really reminded me of Mr.Burns from the simpsons. Now I know where they got the inspiration from for him.
This movie is just so inspirational and good. I love it.
Man this film was amazing and I might get critized for this but whatever I must not be a big fan of classics although I appreciate quite a few(e.g. Godfather 1 & 2,and To Kill a Mocking Bird) but I thought Casablanca was overrated still a good movie but no where near the best ever. In my opinion it was way too melodramatic and I really didn't feel much tension in the film.
My conclusion says that
It's a Wonderful Life>Casablanca
I'm sorry if that offends anyone but hey it's my opinion
@J88Wolf I'm very interested in the law, and that movie was one of the ultimate court movies. I totally understand if you were bored out of hell for that movie. I was too when I first saw it in high school(we saw it because we were reading the book). However, I seriously think Casablanca is wayyyy overrated. It's seriously like the original chick flick. If you want a better classic love movie watch Gone with the Wind instead that movie is much MUCH better.
This movie is simply amazing. I can't believe it its just so good and kind of inspirtational. Near the end it gets to become semi-similar to A christmas carol but instead of the bad greedy old guy(mr.potter) being visited by a spirit(in this case an angel) the good guy does(George Bailey). In the end its a very happy ending but its only very happy because things in the last act looked very grim but got better.
@wolfjeismylovelycat I love this movie coz it's about a second chance to life and appreciating what you have. I don't like this trailer coz it doesn't really explain what the movie's about.
I started watching this a few days ago but couldn't understand it. Watched it reluctantly last night and loved it. Shall watch it again over Christmas. Such a message. The trailer doesn't give much away though does it?!
Ironically, it only got popular BECAUSE it bombed at the box office. No one cared about it enough to purchase the TV rights so it was in public domain for a number of years. That meant every TV station could play it for free. And they played THE HELL out of it so much that everyone at one point got to see this movie two or three times a year for about 10 years. And it achieved it's great popularity because of that.
Yes not a good trailer. And it also bombed at the cinema on release. Thankfully it ended up achieving the audience numbers it deserved. Christmas wouldnt be the same without it. Merry Christmas!
@nickmcgivney I know when this movie came out originally it flopped and had been trumped by the now-forgettable film The Best Years Of Our Lives. It was thought of as too "sentimental" too "unrealistic" by critics and war weary audiences.
@nickmcgivney Either that or, when you did see it, you'd be shocked and disappointed that the movie contains some dark parts.
I heard the film didn't do well because it's more of a downer than most Frank Capra films. They were probably trying to disguise that fact in the trailer.
@nickmcgivney Just saw the movie at a public theater with my kids tonight and the 12 year old leaned over after about an hour and asked what the movie was about. I could see his point. It's a completely disjointed series of events showing George's life that don't make sense until you see him get in his fix much later. So how can the trailer show what the movie is about when the first hour and 20 minutes were so random?
I think 1955 era best presented the USA to the whole world, clean-wholesome-family based-stylish-exiting-envyable- different to the rest of the world, Shanie England.
@Johnlindsey289 Agreed. It's a shame that i got so incredibly burned out on it as a teen because of the constant television showings of it during the holidays though.
This movie is playing tonight on NBC. But all is not jake by the end of this sudser. What about Mr. Potter and the 8 large he got away with? Well, he bought into an Edsel dealership. Feeling restless, he liquidated (in his pants, too) just in time. Fate was not kind, however. Potter got caught going long on Sony in the Betamax vs. VHS battle. He went bankrupt and died shortly after and, you guessed it, is buried in a potter's grave. Evil dare not triumph, not while I'm on watch.
as with most trailers from back then, they used alternate takes that weren't in the movie. This is especially noticeable at 1:20--George says his "do what i want to do" line in a different tone.
"What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? The Moon? Just say the word and i'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down, Hey. Thats a pretty good idea, I'll give you the moon, Mary."
And she'll take it, and swallow it, and it would all dissolve, see? And the moonbeams will shoot out of you're fingers and toes, and the end of you're hair."
Never forgot that line, who knows i might be lucky in this life and say it myself to that special one, one day. Maybe.
Wow, before this year I never noticed the profound meanings and themes of this classic I have seen every holiday since I was a child. The Bailey's represent the small, American business that truly want to help the common people, while Potter represents big business which only looks to profit off of and exploit the hard, working class. With all of the shady foreclosures that banks have done recently after the mortgage industry was deregulated back when Ronald Reagan this movie is ever pertinent
I saw this movie on TV when i was about 8 or 9 back in the 70's, I remember thinking at the time "This is the greatest movie ever made" lol. I haven't seen it since. I bought it on VHS 10 years ago but never got a chance to watch it, I think i'll sit down this christmas and watch it with the kids
15 people don't know what christmas is..

as with most trailers from back then, they used alternate takes that weren't in the movie.

Maybe.

Fantastic film, this really lifts me up when i watch it. When people were beautiful.

This trailer might explain the movie's poor performance at the box office: it conveys nothing of the film's beauty or message. Bleh.
