well, my parents weren't from there, but my dad has traveled there many times for his job. i can't explain why i like them, but they've always been my favorite teams to watch. the Pirates piss me off a lot with their management the past decade and a half, but i still enjoy watching them. i'll actually be moving to Pittsburgh in roughly 5 years or so.

I was raised around a family who loves hockey so of course I've grown to love it. And even though I'm not in the Pittsburgh area, the Pens have been my favorite team for a long time. (They're doing amazing this year)

@HockeyLovexx - Highly disagree with that. Pittsburgh as we all know isnt a hockeytown like Detroit or Montreal, Its a football town. Only reason theres fans, bc they won the cup, they had an average of 11,000 b4 the year they even got into the playoffs. So yeah i guess now you can say they are passionate.
