after watching episode 5 Liam actually finally convinced me that he can carry on the role of Spartacus he is doing a great job as 4 Andy is the best Spartacus ever but he's gone basically Andy brought Spartacus the historical figure back and now Liam is helping it live on.
man if liam grew a beard like andys and had the same haircut as andys and was a little bit bulkier and if he didnt use the 'afterlife' word too damn often he'd be more than awsome in vengeance believe me i also didnt like the idea of him beeing the new spartacus but after seen 2 episodes it doesnt bother me at all its the fact that he needs to get into the skin of the character but hey the show still ROCKZ baby and thats all dat matters
I know I am in the minority but I really like Liam McIntyre as Spartacus. Andy was the best and I miss him, he made the role and no one can ever play it better. I didn't watch the first episode expecting Liam to be on par with Andy and he wasn't because no one could be. But he did a good job. It was believable. He isn't trying to be Andy he is trying to be Spartacus and I appreciate that. I'm looking forward to more.
Forget this guy he can't cut it. Don't know what the producers were thinking when they selected him. Too small physically, yells all his lines like he's constantly pissed off with no depth and looks awkward and nearly comical in the fight scenes. Commands zero presence on the screen in this role. The show should have ended guys. I won't be watching . Just sad.

The firstepisode was good, but it could have been great! Its Liam, he just doesn't fit as Spartacus. In other softer shows and buddy comedies sure! But in Spartacus? NO! Liam seems to not have the physic nor the acting ability to pull off, what could be one of the greatest series roles of all time. As a person he's probably cool as ice. But as Spartacus he's a warm blank on a hot sunny day, it’s just not what you want or need for this season...
Yes, Andy was an unmatched Spartacus and maybe even as a modern action/drama TV actor, his death is tragic and I was surprised how much I missed someone I had just seen in a TV series. But, I don't think there's anyone that could be doing better than the new guy, he grew on me pretty fast.

@EDGE1LB If they were to add the weight to Liam's taller frame to try and match Andy's physique. Spartacus will go from being one of the smaller gladiators in season one. To one of the largest gladiators in season two. I have to believe if they wanted Liam bulkier he would be.
@EDGE1LB You're right he does look smaller but that's how they want him to look. He looks less cut because he's taller than Andy was. Shorter people can look more buff with less mass. The taller you are more weight is required to achieve a physique like Andy's. Spartacus is not supposed to be bigger than most of the gladiators. Crixus calls him little man and agron referred to him as tiny in season 1.
Based off what DeKnight said there will likely be more than 5 seasons. Starz hired DeKnight to a several year development deal. To not only continue work on Spartacus but to develop other sbows for Stars. Probably because Camelot sucked so bad and Spartacus rocks. The man knows good acting and knows how to tell a story.
@Ewing8 Oh yeah, I love game of thrones as well. I watched the video chat last night with DeKnight and some of the cast. He said he isn't sure how many season there will be. But that he's confident he'll get to finish the story. Look you may not ever like Liam. I think he's good, and more people like him as spartacus than people who don't. Oh and if DeKnight was in charge of Camalot it would probably still be on...and good.

I saw the first episode on Demand and this guy is worse that I thought. I knew it was going to be hard to replace Andy as well as Battiatus, but I can't watch this show anymore. Just watched the first episode, I feel like part of me died and part of me was reborn from the sheer awesomeness. Seriously, more effort was put into these first fifty minutes than the 4 years it took to make The Old Republic.
the show feels so weird with the new actor as spartacus i just really got used to the old one and when i watch this new season it really stands out to me when theres a scene with him. Its a damn shame the actor died he was the best for this part. May he rest in peace.
