@shabadavanity The glue I used in this video was Modge Podge, which I also used as a sealant over the paper. It's a white glue that dries clear, easy to work with. I used a matte finish Modge Podge, as opposed to a glossy. Personal preference. You might also be able to get away with using a white (elmer's) glue, but it doesn't dry perfectly clear and works best with porous surfaces (which a bottlecap is not). Hope this helps!
@donimoX Yes, I do use card stock instead of regular paper. You're right, I don't think regular paper would hold up over the inner rings on some caps.
@sugerray7 I can't be of much help with this question, as I've never used Modge Podge spray. I didn't know it came in a spray! It seems that it would be awfully hard to control coverage in a spray, but it might be worth a try. If you DO try it, please come back and let me know how it turns out!
@sugerray7 I can't speak for other craft glues, but I use Modge Podge with a matte finish, so it's not a glossy or shiny, but it is definitely clear. You will notice that it shows slight brush/sponge lines on the surface even after it dries, but I actually like that. On some projects, I brush it on vertically, let it dry, then do the second coat horizontally to create a hash-mark effect. It's pretty cool. Anyway, good luck with your project!
@kmilguard Not necessarily, but I haven't tried it without the Modge Podge. I use it to glue the paper down inside the bottlecap, then do a top coat, but you may be able to glue down the paper, skip the top coat, and go right to the EnviroTex Lite (after waiting for the caps to dry, of course). Let me know if it works!
@kmilguard Honestly, I haven't tried using actual photos. Photos are on a thicker paper, card stock, so that may be an issue in getting it glued down. A flat surface would be required on the bottle cap. Also, if you print the photos yourself, the type of paper and ink would be a variable for bleeding when coming in contact with the glue. I would definitely experiment with it - use COPIES of photos, so you you don't destroy a treasured memory, though :)
@kmilguard I just purchased a basic Modge Podge - matte finish. I love the matte because it adds to the "vintage" look. If it helps, the EnviroTex Lite comes in a mostly purple box. It's a "pour-on" finish. I bought mine at Ben Franklin's, but I would guess Michael's would carry it as well :)
@sugerray7 You don't have to, but it creates a finished seal (and high gloss) to the project. There are alternatives like the resin stickers mentioned below or other resin coatings. You can also leave it off altogether, but you won't get the same finished effect as seen in the video.
@ensignrickiredshirt I sell the clear epoxy 1 inch dot/dome resin stickers on my etsy. It makes it so much easier & quicker to make bottle caps! You don't have to wait for them to dry, the adhesive is super strong, it's water resistant, non-yellowing, scratch resistant, it gives it a 3-D appearance and they are high quality as well. You don't have to worry about the fuss and mess with resin. I have a lot of customers that love them.
@TatteredAddiction Thanks for the tip, but, personally, I really like the clean, seamless edges of the high gloss finish...it has a more professional, finished look to me. I imagine your stickers work great in many different applications, though, like pendants, buttons, and such :)
Thanks for the comment on our vid - much appreciated!
