How much would I be looking at paying for one in fairly good condition in USD? all i can find are mint boxed ones on ebay for like 2-3 hundred, anyone know where I could find one for less than that?
Thank you for your effort in preparing this instructional video. I followed your instructions and successfully repaired my 25-year-old Roland S220 sampler -- which has the same Quick Disk drive in it.
Thanks for the tutorial! Do these instructions work for a Twin Famicom (obviously the case different.) Also if it is the same can the drive be swapped from a FDS to a TF or vice-versa.?
The best thing would be to rip all the bios and find someone that has the knowledge to build some glue hardware for a standard 3.5" and rewrite the soft :D the ultimate rebuild in my opinion :D but probably hard as F :-(
Awesome!! I just got and ancient Akai S700 Sampler and it works really well... except for the QD disc drive that it uses. It is the same as in the Famicom so I was able to use your vid to take the drive apart and repair it. I did not use your belt material (more detail please !) as I was able to find a 9 inch (total outside length) by 2 mm wide flat belt that the drive uses. They are sold as 9 inch flat belts. I found a shop that had lots. Without this vid I could not have done this!! UR Swell!!
I too went to the hardware store, and while I found a few things that looked like they could be made of a similar material in the section where plumbing and pipes are nothing was the same. I even downloaded this video to my MP3 player and showed it to several of the associates and they still couldn't figure out what it was. Your vid is great though, I used it to clean up my disk system and it worked until the cheap belt I bought started giving an error 22, please what are you using for the belt?
I went in to my local hardware store and asked them for the black plastic for the belt, they had no idea what you were using... could you tell me the exact name of it?
I too would like to know where you got that plastic rubbery thing for making your belt. I have been to Keinz Home and Sekichu (in Gunma) and cant find it anywhere. Where did you get yours from?
I tried my best to get the camera set up while I was doing this but it is quite difficult to show the different parts from different angles without bumping the damn thing. I already have parts 2 and 3 up if you want to check them out. I know that I've found lots of people on the net who have contributed to the repairs of some of my other systems, just thought I'd try to return the favor.

@IvoryGecko1993
I would guess it was broken before they started or they weren't careful in the repair process.

@lukemorse1 Are homemade belts stronger and more reliable?
