The spectacle of giant video projections will always be seductive. With that in mind, even the most banal and mundane imagery will appear interesting simply becasue of the context.
Aitken needs to stop using celebrities in his videos and focus on bringing it back to the art side of the art/commercial fence. Electric Earth was his peak.
peak??if then even!, all of his work is like a big gap ad. always was and always will be. isnt there is already enough of this crap on TV as it is. but dont call it art. more like marketing and commerce. and doug aitken is the product
pretty cool i would be glad if we had a cathegory only with high quality content like this never to be understood by bbq production or erimingk. thanks
Personaly I think that was pretty badly done. I mean the editing was nice and the music was cool. but it had no point, I mean is it a movie trailer or a show or what. It just confused me and pissed me off.
although the ultra quick editing might be hard to watch, the clip gives you two slow clips when the people are closing the door, maybe that was meant to give you a small break from the lightning fast visuals
Does the short visual bam/bam/bam narrative accumulate into a collective or unified visual experience that is a whole or is there at the conclusion only a recognition of technical expertise from the construction. Sort of like slam poetry but when you're done consumming it, what images stay with you.

it's less like a movie and more like the new generation of Calvin Klein or Gap ads... reel deep.

I liked it. Editing was a bit too fast in places for my taste, but interesting none the less.
