ive seen plenty of people doing this at my local rink and ive kinda just copied and learnt but now ive realised ive been doing it wrong for the past couple of months thanks for this video
what's up dan how's life man?? I made a new account.. to to refresh your memory of who I am.. I told I was going to make a family and I couldn't do this anymore cause of that and work.. And you reminded my how to hockey stop.
@Prolite Good to hear that your health is good. And hey life is hard on all of us. The reason I contacted you is because I may need your tips again since I may go back into this sport again. :)
hi , I am skating for 3 years and have recently discovered your videos ...I find them very useful.....but I want to know if I can do this trick on recreational ice skates? thnx and keep up the good work
is this a way to train for hockey? or is this a completely separate sport? when you're talking about muscle development and wearing x60's I kind of got confused.
I didn't even know that there was a name for this >.> I can do it but i'm not saying its easy, I work at an ice rink so some things come easy. But I can stop with my legs crossed like that ;)
whats the skating trick called where you skate backwards and overlap your feet sorry i cant explain it very well but you can turn round corners and swap feet quickly.... please reply if you understand lol
I can do that pretty easy, didn't realise I could till I watched aha, we call it Alabama or somethin like that lol, i'll try get a vid of it next time im skatin and post it.
grr... every time i watch an xtreme ice skating vid it makes me want teh rink here to reopen faster!.... i need to stop watching them and yet i cant !
ok, well ive never seen anyone do it and my ice rink in englan has alot of skilled hockey players on the free skate, home of slough jets, so would be nice if i can do it ;D
You have to since falls, especially hard ones, are extremely frequent. You'll get use to wearing protective equipment any way -- or at least a few hospital visits if you decide to learn the way that is not smart.
Man, thank you for the explanations, I practiced it for hours in the stadium and you know what? I cannot do it because my legs are too *FAT* and I cannot cross them in such a way!! aaargh! Time for a diet!
good tutorial and gratz for y for doing it that fast...hah thats funny i was trought noone know about that trick and i thinked i can name it..but y were 1st great job
please can you help me with just doing a normal 2 foot stop, i can do a 1 foot snowplow but when trying to do two foot stops my inside foot just swivels, plus im terrified of falling over ... any tips?
i had the same problem , really for about 3-4 months, just practice, practice and practice again, trust me, now i do it perfect and i'm very happy. Lose your fear and just practice.
I justg learned how to dance on thursday night lol took me 20 mins my mate said it took him like 2 week :P now i think im a fast learner i just need to learn how to stop properly now
Sounds like you are a fast learner. You might be a natural too. If so, that means you should practice even more and harder. You'll get that much better.

I'm pretty sure I can do that....it's basically a forward straight line footwork or grapevine.
RiderwithaLeftHook 1 year ago
@RiderwithaLeftHook There's a lot of other straight-line footwork in the sport, but I agree, this is pretty easy.

If your recreational ice-skates have a toe pick, it will be hard but still possible. Otherwise you should have no problem doing this movement.

@kristiz92 get some hockeys

Or Xtreme Ice Skates, but they won't be in the market until a few months from now :(
