  • I love KDE with opensuse

  • I just see more problems than benefits indeed. If the user wants to use KDE then should use Linux because it fits better there, or whether wants to use Windows use its owns GUI for the same reasons.

The efforts of the KDE developers should be spent fixing bugs and making it better.

  • what is this song

  • how did u install it ,i have same windows 7 64 bit but failed to installed kde for windows , it gets downlaoded but,, doesnt installs and only games run, not the applications and kde enviorment , pls help

  • I can see doing this with windows xp but not 7.

  • I don't like this realese, KDE 3.5 is my favorite GUI, Debian with KDE 3.5 its very stable and nice!

  • Kubuntu. <3

  • why you don't just use linux ???

linux is better than a pseudo inoperating sistem

  • More dumb muzak, I'm gone.

  • Linux has KDE integrated ^^

  • @DoNotHackMyAccount

No. Some distros have run KDE "From the box", but usualy, you need to install it manualy.

  • The background music is funny.

    What's the second music?

  • What is the first song?

  • Siriusmo - Discosau

  • i understand the motivation of porting the kde libs to other platforms so that in principle all kde apps woule be cross platform.

but plasma and other gui elements ? i see no point ..

  • They just made that because the most of the KDE is made in Qt, and Qt gives u the possibility to move ur program to Windows, Linux, Mac, Symbian OS, Windows Mobile..., they made that because there is no problem to compile it in Windows Qt. They don't make any effort for that, so why they will not port it to Windows? That's why.

  • @pedepy

I see the point, especially the Windows interface is down right messy. I am not sure about 7. But up till vista all your program quick luncher is under program menu. And it will not sort out programs regard to what is what (as Gnome & KDE does)! It is not bad if you only have few application. But if you get 30+ application. Enjoy the trip through the menu list. Too bad KDE had yet to offer a full blow support plasma for the system.

  • I use Ubuntu 9.10, Its great.

  • I would die for having the actual KDE window manager on windows.

  • What is the song?

  • what song is this?

  • Can someone tell me why the fuck you would want to run kde4 in windows....?

  • cuz its cool and stupid at the same time

  • Cuz it's awesome!

I replaced my windows shell with blackbox4windows, just because I like very simple interfaces.

  • yeah, can someone tell us?

  • I find this very exciting. The reason I don't like windows is mostly the way it feels to use it, the way they put limitations on te user. Windows 7 and Vista is better than what they've done before, but for instance, you can't put an extra panel with larger icons on the left edge of the screen, like I do in KDE on linux. Stupid!

So, by enabling KDE on windows, I get more joy out of windows and might actually use it for everyday tasks.

Portability like this can't ever be a bad thing.

  • HORRIBLE MUSIC!!

  • can it do compositing though? KDE 4.X effects are NICE!

  • Can someone help me to run FLYFF on my new laptop? Im stupid when it comes to certain programs.

    FLYFF IS A MMORPG

  • made in windows.... opensuse is better...with the original kde!!

  • you should have went to task manager and stopped the explorer.exe process and you wouldnt have the Windows Taskbar

  • FYI: KDE 4.x can run on top of windows so it's probably not a virtual box in this demo

  • What screen recording program are you using?

  • there is a kde for windows project so that probably how they did it

based solely on this video, i find the win7 desktop environment to be a lot more functional than kde... i'm installing kde on my computer right now so i'm gonna see how it holds up to windows 7 explorer

  • I don't, but I find Gnome more functional than KDE.

  • tell me the steps to run it like this in my win 7 ?!

    thanks for help !

  • Pointless... Don't need the Windows Startbar =)

  • Eh... desktop environment in desktop environment. X_x

  • in a OS that doesn't support that O_o

  • Or whatever it is. :o I don't know enough about that. :(

  • Ammh, not at all. It's more like a Desktop Enviroment replacement for the Windows Default one.

The final version of KdeWin would be more like an entire desktop enviroment, not only different process running.

There are similar things, like emerge desktop or cairo, etc.

  • Do you mean a window manager? I'm not a KDE expert. :| And why would you want to run on top of Windows? Well... I guess if you're forced to run on Windows it's nice to have options like KDE. Heh.

  • @Wirwing @HelloImMitch Yes indeed your a little kid, there is no such law of that sort, you can't simply sue sombody for these things you have mentioned, it is your legal gardians responsabilty for the things you witness, and if they have a problem with the languge on here then you should be removed from here. I am flaging this comment under ignorent statment, and misleading information in regards to the law.

Trick Baby / Proper Villians from The Black Ghosts EP

Discosau / Siriusmo from the same EP.

  • yup whats that song and artist? Great video.
