I have lived in or near Wheeling all my life, and yes, downtown looks really bleak. The bustling streets I remember from childhood are long gone. But the area surrounding the city is still great, and everything you see here can still be enjoyed. I guess the old saying of "make the most of what you've got" comes into play here.
I moved away from the area when my parents got divorced in 1982. I still visit the area several times a year for the Oglebay Christmas lights and to gamble! I love the area.........
