@Mazza4Azza are you sure? what makes it the best? the costs? the shiny uniforms? or their marketing? oh, no, maybe the results right? and what we call "results" is basically the fact how many ppl graduate form that school and start working as an airline pilot right? Hmm... I don't think aviation or being a pilot is about these stuff... oh, and don't forget that fact that ERAU used to train the british fighter pilots.. so why the hell the best school is in england.. makes no sense man.
Because of the level of training you get; but also the way they look after you when you finish and help you find a job. No other school will do this and i have a lot of friends that have been to (cabair, ctc, fte) who all say this is the case. In this competitive career (which is what it is) most airliners are glad to see OAA on the application forms. They wouldn't want to look at who trained the British fighter pilots, it's a commercial industry. Not a military industry.
@Mazza4Azza man, trust me, I also know what I am talking about. Of corse, it is also my mistake to argue here on YouTube. That is my stupidity. My whole family ii living for aviation, and my father came from a whole other "world" whereas pilots were selected after their abilities not after their credit card. I have also took out a huge loan, put in on our only house and took the risk. However, no matter what fancy airlines wants to see on the applications, if you crash the plane. Guess we agree.
@Mazza4Azza Level of training? You know in aviation theory is all the same. Your experience and how you behave up there what matters. You can get the best instructors, and the best theory training; however, if you shit your pants and pull the yawk during a spin, you busted. OAA is just a fancy school for rich british boys and girls. Of corse, if you take it seriously you can learn how to fly even there, but equally as at other places. So, yup. Still hate OAA, and still wish that bitch got fired!
@Mazza4Azza good luck for you as well! just keep in mind: aviation is about the pilots, not about the airline, nor the schools and other dumb-ass HR people. its about the "aviators" :)
@Mazza4Azza in addition, flying with dynamic aerodynamic rules are invented in the U.S. and my friend, over there a totally poor guy could be a pilot as well, not just rich bastards like this retard... open your eyes man.
Let's not be prejudicial here. Just because this guy is confident in taking out a bank loan of £70,000 and wanting all the ratings to be a FO, that does not make him a retard. It's what he wants so what has it got to do with you? Finance plays a massive part in the aviation industry; not many people make it - only the ones who are financially strong.
I remember watching this video a couple of times before I started my course at Oxford in September 2008 thinking there was no chance for me with the Global Financial Crisis kicking off. Two years later I am now a Flybe FO on the Dash 8 myself. Good times :)
if i get a cpl on a single engined aircraft pa28 for example, would i still be eligible for a flybe pilot. Would they teach me how to lfy their aircraft or would i have to go about it in my own way?. Thanks
@FlyHighRC386 you would have to get a multi engine rating and a instrument rating (along with a few more things) to gain a frozen atpl then you can apply to flybe, then if you get a job you will do a type rating on their dash 8s thats if you can afford the first part.
@FlyHighRC386 Hey mate no you would need the very minimum of a current Multi-Engine Instrument Rating with a valid MCC course certificate to be able to get a job with Flybe as a pilot. Obviously with the CPL of course. I would reccommend Oxford as a school however be aware that the price advertised is the very minimum you will pay as it does not include resits, extra flights etc. I can count on under half the fingers of one hand the people on our course who did not fail something along the way.
visted the cockpit of a flybe dash 8 the other day and the fo let me sit in the right hand seat for a couple of minutes while i had a quick chat and i have got my work experience with them in birmingham at the end of june SO EXCITED!!!!!!!
@jacobs088 No, Maths and Physics A-Levels and then if you choose to, a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Well, thats the path i'm taking anyway. After the degree i will then attend OAA.
okay I'm 17, I'm flying on a flight and do you think I'm aloud in the cockpit for a little Q and A with the pilot, on becoming a pilot. or is that strictly not aloud now from things like 9/11
as AP264 has said after the flight is most likely however, it normally depends on how busy they pilots are. With airlines wanting fast turnarounds now such things are not as common but their is no harm in asking :)
Dash 8 captains start at £53,000pa as I recently found out on their site when I consulted the payscale. Happy however, the starting salary for a first officer is now £25,000
You don't know shit obviously, we have plenty of oil left, and when we do run out, which is a long time from now, we will have had created hundreds of biofuels to rely on.
Yes it was mentioned in flight international. I think you have to go onto the Flight Training Europe Jerez website to apply/find out details.good luck
Just to update, both of the students who are seen on the flight deck at the start of the video (both from AP264), got jobs with flybe a few months later. Both have been working for flybe as First Officers for about a year now and are loving every minute of it!
Easyjet and other larger airlines are no longer recruiting cadets through the sponsorship scheme at the moment. They're looking for qualified type rating pilots or those with a ATPL wishing for type rating training.
I think this is a good idea, many pilots self finance their training and those are the ones in need of priority employment.
now i hate to be podantic or anal but it is actually a turboprop. so you would have to say.... 'Seems like a few of those potential candidates have Shiny Turboprop syndrome'
You are right. There is nothing wrong with having that perception if thats what student pilots want to aim for. But if you pass off the opportunity for a job at flybe on a turboprop to wait and see if you can get a jet job first, then I would a say that would be rather stupid! Sadly some students have done this in the past and needless to say are still looking for jobs!!
Yeah, I know it's a turboprop. It's just when the candidate asks the captain if he is 'eventually wanting to get onto the Embraer fleet' as if the Dash isn't good enough ;)
Im hoping to join oxford aviation in the near future. Then after hopefully get a IR on the 737-300/400/500 or A32X Series. then maybe look at employment with BMI Baby or BA.
Great video, very interesting...Thanks very much for posting!
