Man...that brings me back..I remember seeing Gianinis back in the mid 70's when I first started playing guitar. Just found your channel as I was looking at/for ergonomic guitars. What a collection you seem to have! My oh my the fun and joy it must bring to you. Thanks for the vids I'll be subscribing asap.Cheers!
Oh my....your pronunciation is not bat at all...looks more like to a spanish version of the music! I'm a brazilian girl and I do sing and play as well...You're very good, I'm impressed! Very good to hear you're interested in our culture!!! ^^ Parabéns!
Hi Roger- I used to just go into music stores and smell these guitars and walk out. lol
I was a young guy, without a lot of cash. I never see the Gianninis around anymore, even in pawn shops or whatever. I was addicted to these. So much like the Ov Breadwinners and Ergos, a smart acoustic design!
@satchman1000 - Of course it's a Giannini Craviola! Nobody else would build such a thing. :) Thanks for the compliment, but I surely do NOT speak Portuguese. I can kinda-sorta pronounce it though, due to learning songs and being interested in Brasilian culture for the past 20 years or so.
You are very kind. I respectfully direct you to a great source of inspiration - the members of "Tiny Band." Check out mercedezzz, swingbossa, and brazilianposer.
RP - very nice! I love this song and enjoy how it is played by so many artists. I would love to know what the English translation is of the lyrics. Anyway to find out if the english translation of the lyrics is posted on the internet?
This is your lucky day. I work with folks from Brazil, and one colleague helped me translate it. I'll send you the lyrics via private email. Thanks for the comment! -RP
I really appreciate that. I definitely flubbed some words (and knew it at the time)! But it is fun to go out on the edge of one's abilities sometimes. Obrigato e abrazos - RP
I like your attitude a lot : extremely passionate about the music and the guitar (nice gear...), skillful, and very unpretentious... It reflects on your music!!! Very enjoyable listening. Bravo!!!
Obrigado! You will notice that I have not posted any more singing in your fine language; maybe for a moment my shyness lifted and this video escaped! :)
parabens...roger i like to see people from other countries singing in portuguese from Brazil like Djavan!!! i think that Brazilian music is very rich in melodies and only a good singer and guitar player can ´play Djavan and rescue his vibe. i will put the video in my orkut because you know... i am a guitar player that play samba and i´m a revolutionary! good vibes roger...
Que bom! That would have been 1974 and yes, mine is a Giannini Craviola from the early 1970's - maybe 70 or 71. It feels very happy playing wonderful Brasilian music! Enjoy your old violão.
Obrigado Jose! I know extended chordal harmony from jazz, but some particular shapes occur more frequently in bossa comping. So I've learned a few cool new ones while working on bossa tunes.
Good song choice; Djavan is "o homem"! From one gringo to another, nice pronunciation!
I believe your craviola is similar to mine; the top looks a little lighter in color, but that could be the vagaries of the camera. Looks like you're enjoying it! Parabéns, Rogerio.
Obrigado Adamzinho! Funny, I think mine is darker than yours. It's actually quite orangey, as if it was a cedar top. I'm still not sure on that. But I am digging it, and that's what counts. Peace -RP

Is that a Giannini? Looks like a variation of a Craviola. You're awesome. Where'd you learn Portuguese?

@rpguitar - Wow, it is! I've never seen one with the slotted headstock. It's nylon right? My father has the 6 and 12 string steel versions.
