Strahl said there was no money for a school--but there's lots of money for SPYING on native groups. Since 2007, Harper's been spending millions of our tax dollars, paying the RCMP to infiltrate First Nations community & protest groups.The Tories are right wing conservatives.They don't give damn about native people & they hate ALL poor people.

Actions speak louder than words. Tories build prisons, not social housing.They cut social programs & people die. The kids pleas were futile. For shame.

Government handouts. PPFFTTTT! This land is my land! Stolen from me and my people! Any money a governments gives out does not take what they took from us. Which is Priceless. Our communities need more that money. We need the truth to what happened to us an how we were exploited and ignored. Money is worthless to the price that we have paid through residential schools and our loss of culture. We are a beautiful people and deserve more! So let`s go get it.

Don't think I'm trying to cause trouble or be nasty, I simply want to ask a question. I worked on the construction of the Victor project and was told that every reserve resident was going to get $25,000 every year end in addition to the reserve getting over $30,000,000 every year until the mine closed, with all this money why is there a housing/school issue? have the reserve build teir own.

I'm just asking a question so dont rant over this

@Robb721 There are many different reasons why the conditions on reserves are still horrible despite government handouts. I'm doing a paper on it right now. There are so many problems on reserves, and things that the money needs to be spent on, a lot of the time there is confusion between INAC and the reserves and people aren't sure where the money has gone/ where it has been spent. There just isn't enough structure and organization to make things happen, and make the money go far.

@Robb721 There's also not enough will from the INAC and the government to give the reserves what they need. Ultimately, it is their responsibility to provide the community with the school, the town shouldn't have to pay to build one themselves. There's just so many reasons why there is still such poverty, it may seem like there should be a simple solution, but really the situation is so complex. It's been difficult for me to write a paper on it, just because there is no clear answer

If Chuck Strahl is a decent guy he should do a decent thing and not ignore repeated pleas for a real school and to declare a state of emergency for the over a thousand homeless people in Attawapiskat due to backed up sewage flooding homes ruining furniture, clothes, belongings and forcing people to live 30 people in a three bedroom house or in inadequately heated plywood tent frames with tarp roofs coming into 50 below weather.

The portables in Attawapiskat are overcrowded, are close to the site of the former school and the toxic Diesel spill and the fumes are still overpowering. Chilliwack does not have to endure temperatures of 50 below. Atttawapiskat does, so a crack under the door is a big deal.

Oh what a video its so touching..It reminds me of the residential school video's I watched one time and pictures that I have seen...Should try to raise money some how for these kids cause they shouldn't have to endure this kind of education at all. Here I thought there was improvement in the government but no...Best wishes and I hope you get the building that you need to teach these young kids..need a better facility to teach our future leaders...

This video was amazing, so touching and deep...excellent work, Shannen...No child should have had to endure that for such a long time, let alone eight years...The federal government should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for letting this go on so long...I saw you on APTN today and had to come find this video! Shannen, your dedication and conviction is admirable. I too pray for your cause. It is a just one, and should have been dealt with before more children are hurt. Most politicians are blind to all but that which affects them directly.
