hey chris, yer garden is lookin great! It is more motivation for me to get out and do more in mine here on this rainy/humid day in western nc. Now is the time to start hilling up yer taters. By this I mean that you need to cover up the green stalks with a dirt/hay mix. The taters grow above the ones that you have planted and need to be under the dirt in order to keep producing more potatoes. think of it like a tomatoe plant it keeps growing up and producing fruit out on its limbs, very similar.
You can start covering potatoes with dirt as soon as they pop out of the ground.
If you have more than one seed sprout in your starter pot don't pull out the seedlings and transplant them just save the strongest of them and cut the others with scissors so you don't disturb the root system and kill them all.
Looks like its going well. We still havent planted anything yet, but we got everything and i think my dad tilled or whatever where we are going to plant.
you put dirt on the potatoes now. cover the leaves and everything if you do it in the morning by the end of the day it will have already pushed it;s way up. it sounds like it will kill the plant but it doesent it grows right up.
Mound potatoes when you start seeing green. Just cover them up till you can not see anymore green. The they will poke out a few days later and then just keep on mounding them till you get as high as you want. The potatoes form on the main stem NOT the roots. The more stem you have the more potatoes you will get. GOOD JOB there TFD
thanks.....looks like i'll try to get them covered before it rains again. i look for videos, but there arent many, i remembered your video said sumthin!
hope it all goes well 5*

You have to hill them up to keep them growing and producing under the earth. They like the hay it is like an incubator kinda.

don't pull out the seedlings. cut all but the biggest plant. if you pull them out, the roots will go crazy and the plant will be poor.
