@AnectiCTheMirage BULLSHIT. The 2nd exercise with the medicinal ball (it has a weight) is to gain power on the attack and itsnt useless at all. The power of the attack comes mostly from the pectoral muscles and abs, to hit hard you use your body motion and that exercise is to improve the contraction speed of those muscles. If you go to the gym you will get strength but not power, theyre different types of strength. These exercise are the most used in almost every sport. So shut the fuck up.
Well, I'm clumsy and has sprained my knee playing baskeball and just doing simple things like squats and squat jumps hurt where I sprained it. I don't think I trust myslef to that but maybe the medicine ball if I owned one.
@xxslvrxx You don't NEED to do anything to get better at a lot of stuff. But to deny the benefits of weight training is ridiculous. What athlete couldn't do with more force production? Kids, do your squats.
@Reusche1337 once or twice a week tops. Snatch, Clean, RDL's, and Front squats and you got a good little lift focused on power. Well if you focus on the power aspect...but yeah good shiz right there.
the medicine ball doesn't develop the "whip" in an arm swing though. It's great for piking, but isn't there an exercise specifically for the whip action as well as the wrist snap over the top of the ball?
@ZoomZip youre right Snatch is a pretty dangerous exercise. But, its also the best exercise for volleyball players. If you dont learn how to snatch from someone who really knows what theyre doing dont try it, you more likely to get hurt if you try and teach yourself
This is kinda interesting so i hope you both see this. I am curious what prompted the question from STT? I feel like you might already know the answer to your question but did you ask for other people's sake? For volleyball I would personally train with the dumbell first, then work up to barbell since Vball players neither hit, nor block in the arms spread position.

Hey SMARTER - that's a great question and one that we get pretty often. The snatch is like any lift - only dangerous in those who don't know how to progress it. When Ryan first started doing this lift he only used a 15 pound training bar and we slowly worked up from there. And to answer your question, if the bar starts drifting behind his head he'd just drop it, simple as that.
@velocitysport If you're still apprehensive you could substitute barbell jump squats to get your lower body power and Turkish get-ups for shoulder stability, but that's 2 exercises you could get in 1 with the snatch. You can look up both of those alternate exercises on YouTube and see how they're done.

jumps if I were to take its training in maybe

that it gives all the training software providing
me techniques to achieve maximum vertical
jump and quickness in less than short weeks.

I dont want to be the smart here but i think the 2nd exercise is pretty useless
Be attacker must hit the ball as high as he can so at this exercise the ball is under the head so...
AnectiCTheMirage 4 months ago
@AnectiCTheMirage yea but the whole point of the exersize is o increase ur arm swing strength
saterine 4 months ago
@saterine
With this exercize the onlu increase is in the small brain you got
I play volley and i can say that as higher you hit the ball the better
STARTING WITH LOW STRENGHT
AND MORE AND MORE
until you learn high and powerful
but first of all high
and then power
RULE NUMBER ONE

hey question, what happens if your at home and you don't have weights? how would you train it then?
Blasta808 5 months ago
@Blasta808 just train your body overall and practice hitting with a ball
you do not need weights to get better in volleyball
do pushups and workout ur tricep with a chair. work on forearm.
do squat jumps for legs and workout clafs and you'll be good.
practicing hitting the ball hard by having a friend set you and u try to hit as if there were a net.
TRUST ME IT WORKS.

@ZoomZip If you aren't a starting sporter and you do a good warming-up.. Then I think it would be less dangerous..
And offcourse start low and go slowly to a higher weight..

Is there a safer way to train these components of the game? Looks like it is a dangerous lift. What if the bar swings behind the head?
