Video Games are not fun anymore

I hear you. I haven't played games seriously in 3-4 years now. I just don't think it's fun anymore. I get bored after an 1 hour of playing. I love the idea of being able to play retro-games with joy and happiness, but it seems like that's just a wish that will never happen.

I haven't been able to play any of the new games for over 5 years, my desktop broke down, and my laptop has an imbeded video card..

Just this past month i was able to start playing all the new/old games because i bought an external graphics card for my laptop.. And guess what.. All these games, mass effect 3, saints row the third, assassins creed revelation are boring.

Am exactly like you, i try to type about this, glad you made this vid, only difference is that i had a snes and ps1

@justletuslive also i dont buy games.. I download it, tpb ftw. And give Deus Ex human revolution a try, its actually fun. So is hitman blood money, batman akrahm city is alright.. Kinda kiddy game

It's been done before. Too many sequels. Over advertised. Over priced. Over sold. Too much hype and too many reviews. We here and see the game being played, beat and graded before it comes out. I love games, they are my past-time but I'm so fed up with the game industry.

Same problem, I lost the joy in playing games, which sucks because I was always crazy about them :-( I miss playing it, but somehow it's just not fun anymore

Same here but for me the problem is I only like competitive video games now. LoL, Starcraft, etc.

I know exactly what you mean! Every game I play gets boring after a few days... but I don't really think that games now are worse than they were 10 years ago, I guess I'm just getting old.

I usually go through phases every few months where I will spend a few weeks obsessed with a game and then go of it. I think it's due to external things like I use gaming as a stress release so if my life calms down a bit I won't play as much.

Ya I have the same prob and I am only 14. I have 12 games and I have never beaten a single one and on some of them I am only on the first to second level.

I grew up on a diet of sonic, street fighter, mortal combat, super mario, etc. Great games coz they were simple, fun, and easy to pick up and play. Nowadays games are packed full of features, and sports games have become so complicated and there are so many skills to master that the enjoyment is taken out of it. FPS games are way too short and frustrating. Many years ago I played a game called Mutant League Football on my Megadrive 2 and it was a brilliant game.

im the same way i use to think videos where fun but then day and every day after ohters just started makeing fun of and quit the game every single time just so they vwill win they try and hurt your feels so you will quit then one day i was tired of it people makeing fun of me at school and over xbox live and i use to be one really good player trust me i was command and conquer the outfit cod halo ghost recon even uno but now i don.t care to try again

I can't believe I missed this video. I sympathize wholeheartedly. Though my love of video games started fading when I was about 16. I am okay with that though.... I feel like I'm a much more interesting person now that my activity preferences tend toward the creative rather than the consuming.

I gave up gaming when Space Invaders started competing with my pinball machines at the local Seven-Eleven.  but right this moment I have nineteen movies on the shelf for which I've never cracked the plastic. we move on. even a favorite cereal can lose it's appeal. but we have to watch what fuels the flame thereafter. creativity can be great. love can go either way. substances have dire risks. strikes me as better to engage life than be a hamster.

I think the problem is, is that you suck at video games and that's why you don't like them anymore!! JK :P But really, PLAY video games! If you actually TRY to beat them you'll enjoy it more than not caring! xD

i remember when i was little i had pokemon on my game boy colour. everyone in my family had it except my mom, and my dad beat the whole game and i was so jealous cause i couldnt do anything

I feel the same. My sister and beat Starfox Assult in a week and I beat DK Jungle Beat in the same amount of time. (I still have the last level unplayed because I don't want the game to end)

As much as I love playing video games, I can't help feeling like they're a HUGE WASTE OF TIME. I always feel guilty and as though that time could be better spent.

This is especially true because I tend to enjoy very involved games such as RPGs.

@istealspoons I've only played a few RPGs. I have kinda avoided RPGs since I beat FF7. That one took over 100 hours to beat.

Face it Justin. Even when your a little kid the new pokemon games are almost impossible to complete without cheats of some kind. You need all the previous games to fill up your pokedex! At least your substitute for video games is good though :) I love the Hunger Games :D

This happened to me several years ago, too! I don't even buy them anymore because I never finish them. I even tried playing Portal at the beginning of the summer, but then I couldn't get past a certain part very close to the end, so I just gave up. When I was younger, it was fun to not get past certain parts, but I'd rather just rewatch Parks and Rec episodes instead.

I have never actually beaten a game >.< sometimes nearly, but then not quite. I think I beat harvest moon when I was 5 and like cried because it was over. And I beat Sailor Moon Another Story which was in Japanese. Really not sure how I did that. But that's about it, I go through phases of playing games and then I don't for a while.

Same thing happened to me when I went to University. I was big video game player, and then it just kind of dwindled away. Now, it's a money thing. The newest system I have is a PS2, and I think it has been over a year since I've even touched it. Maybe "Shadow of the Colossus" ruined me because I knew there would never be a better game ever made (besides Ocarina of Time).

I have gotten more into talking about games in detail/news. As we get older we do gather a "pile of shame". Chrono Trigger is a must play.

It's a sad sad existence when videos games just aren't fun anymore. But it happens. (... I still need to beat Pokemon Black) I think they can be more fun in a group now than alone, but I empathize.

Also, You have the Oilers, I have the Rangers. They both suck miserably now. It seems like they just can't win anymore.

FINISH THE HUNGER GAMES SERIES. It's so good. Once you finish, I'd like to hear what you thought of them.

I, unlike you, just play the same few video games over and over and over again and never buy any new ones. I usually buy like one every year. I just love replaying Portal, StarCraft II, and Portal 2 over and over again, because I find their replay value astonishingly high. ...Maybe it's just me.
