  • 14 people clearly don't have a mouse scroll button.

  • why is this tutorial not in HD?

  • Comment removed

  • i made a coaster for my teapot BAM!

  • And "BAM" We got a teapot !! lol

  • (Me as Blender user)

    [clicks the top button]

.... I'm in love with this program already

  • @yinge101 same, i just started to use this program and i love it

  • unfortunately the pressing alt thing does not exist in 2010

  • is this like c4d?

  • @zXkennyXz Yes, but C4D is so much professional (and expensive xd).

  • Can you use 3ds max to make your own 3ds games?????

  • @theforgottenangel615 Models for the games, yes... But you still got to do programming.

  • daaaamn if only i had this instead of spending a year learning Blender :(

  • Slur your words! =P

  • nice. even a guy with my kinda IQ understands these instructions :P

  • Thank you so much for these, I'm transitioning from blender to 3DS max and its been rough, but you've been a great help :D

  • Dude... Way more like Blender than Maya... Totally going to be a comfy switch!

  • thans man you are awesome

  • ur tutorials are awesome :D

  • i like those "bam's" ;]

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I think you could mention, as you speak about viewports, about the ALT+W commando. to focus on active viewport. but its not a big deal. but i think its apropriet. thank you again for nice tutorial

  • @Auktoriserad thax 4 answering b4 i ask

  • Just as a note, it's not 3Ds Max, it's 3DS (3-D-S) Max, it used to be 3D Studio Max, but was shortened to just 3DS Max.

  • dude, your sound system is not 100%. you can hear lots of back noise when you dont talk.

i see you have lots of sound equipment, so u should know how to fix this.

    another thing... the keys QWER in 3ds max is Q - select, W - move, E - rotate and R - scale.

you said you didnt know why, there is your answer. its the 4 most used butons, so the first 4 keys in keyboard are designed for them.

thanks for your tutorials anyway. :) very helpfull

  • Learning something new each time! On to #3!

  • what is this for a version ? i hawe 9 and it does not look so advance as yours

  • @mitmirit It's 2010. You have 2009.

  • @bulipap the 2010 looks much better, and easyer to work with .

  • great tutorial... rarely to find one.

  • i swear that tea pot is straight off from beauty and the beast!

  • 1000x better than maya

  • Finally a great 3ds max tutorial! Thanks

  • It wont work with scrolling at all... I can't even pan :/. I'm thinking theirs something F'd up about my C4D...

  • @WAFFLESxDv I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic but this is a 3DS MAX tutorial, not C4D.

  • @Jlowe258 Sorry, said C4D not 3DS xD. No, I was not being sarcastic o-o.

  • Question?....The viewcube effects the object and the steering wheel effects the camera?

  • @danas62 no, they both affect the camera

  • How do i activate the View Cube ? I don't have it on my one ?

  • @timoisdabomb

3DS MAX is as the name suggest 3D Modelling, people use 3DS MAX to create those cars and humans you see in games, you can also create animations.

Inventor is used for creating 3D models but not for games rather for mechanical work, like a motor or something.

AutoCAD is used mostly in the construction industry to make 2D Sketches made by architects, engineers etc. you can create technical 3D models in AutoCAD too, but Inventor is recommended for that job since it's specialised.

  • I love the new boston videos because he explains EVERYTHING! its a lot better than most of the tutorials because people say ok go here then add the object and make it x2 bigger and add glow to it.... then ur like wtf? im board....

  • 11 people dont got no mouse scroll... so BAM!

  • thanks man, for reals

  • how to put a view cube? because mine does'nt have it.. xD

  • Sorry, I mention "right", not "t"

  • @MrDesignStudio there should be a button in the VERY bottom t hand corner that you can press to bring up the four different views.

  • how do you get 4 views at once i can only se through the perspective view?

  • Thanks man!

  • I prefer orbit over rotating, when I rotate it seems the object gets further away and I fight with it a bit. I would like to remove rotate from the view cube and make the circle be orbit instead. Is that possible? or is it possible to keep the steering wheel in view at all times?

  • You sir, just earned a subscriber. These tutorials are still helpful.

  • @PenguinsRocksVideos looks like you're an idiot.

obviously, the teapot in roblox was from 3ds max, not the other way around

  • Omg for free ????????? this guys is awesome...now i can save up a fortune....where i live 3ds is extremely expensive to learn.

  • @jowjowjowish yeah. but he must have a contract with youtube so he will get money from each view. so free for us, but he still get some money :)

  • @mossmon looks like a win , win....anybody knows wich 3ds should I have ? 2009, 2010, 2011, or 2012 which one wouls suit this tutorial ???

  • @jowjowjowish take the newest one. i have 2011 and its identical to this one. i dont think they have changed the features but the coding and made it more effective.

  • Thanks Alot :D

  • Very good use of D3DXCreateTeapot(...)

  • My teapot keeps shaking like it has parkinsons.

  • I have one question, does the grid matter alot in working with 3DS max. I mean I uploaded the Normandy (Mass effect 2 model) and it`s so big that i cant even see the starting grid in the 3d-viewport.

  • I know you are busy and all but I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for taking the time to do all these tutorials for us. I have been playing with 3ds max for about three years now and I have found your tutorials to be way more informative than any other tutorial on here. Thank you again.

  • @IamCleta ok.. >_>

  • @IamCleta O_o like when guys say i luv u to another guy and then they say no homo to indicate they're not gay...

  • Lol this guy is awesome because besides the fact that he knows every bit about this program, but he has motivation to do this. Because on youtube, when you're watching an animated series, or tutorials, they start to get shorter. Not gradually, but quickly. This means that the creators of these videos are losing motivation, and eventually, they cancel it either saying they have no motivation, or make an excuse.

This guy, however makes the best tutorials I've every seen :D Really.

  • ..... this program is like 5k..... i use bryce but i'd love to get a hold of this.... oh and by the way, since this is bugging me, i know people that are like 19 years old and are realy good at using this program... HHHOOOOWW???

  • @fandore12 If you want 3d max all you have to do is go to the autodesk website, go under the community tab, look for student & educators, register for the website, and follow the links to download it for free from the website

  • and BAM!

  • @thenewboston

when i go to make a shape and i click and drag it just shows a box with nothing in unlike your however it shows a pink teapot mine just shows a bow although the other viewpoints show a wire frame teapot but not being able to see it in the custom viewpoint makes it difficult to get a full 3d perspective any ideas on how i could be able to see my object?

  • Thank you so much mate. i do agree u r the andrew kramer of 3d max :D

  • I get confused whether he says view port or tea pot at times!

  • lol why is there even a preset for a teapot shape

  • BAM!

  • you should be the Andrew Kramer of 3DS MAX, bamm

  • and BHAM! you've got a cool video here! :)

  • How the fuck can anyone dislike this?!

  • i dont have a view cube... QQ

  • In your bottom right corner viewport it say that the settings are 'smooth+highlights' . Mine says that it's in realistic mode. How do I change it to your view, Cheers.

  • get a student license free for 3 years

  • my version doenst have steeringwheel and viewcube..

  • @00Mass00 The viewcube is pretty useless when you've gotten used to click+dragging. I've never used it.

  • @McJaews But, remember that this could be user friendly to newer 3D animators or designers.

  • :D awesome tutorial, I like the lazy way :)

  • For what fucking reason is there a teapot in 3ds max ? thats not even a shape!!!

    SO BAM !!!!!!!!

    ( i love your tutorials)

  • @ThriiworksStudios It's partially an example and partially an in-joke. The original developers wanted to show 3rd party software writers how the program could handle parametric objects with elements (body, spout, lid and handle.) in the hopes they'd follow suit with other things. The teapot is called the Utah teapot and was developed in the 1970s by the university of Utah.

  • @tonberrykei thank you and sorry for my language. (you must know a lot about 3ds max)

  • so BAM....so cute...:)

  • Teapot lol

  • one thing...why d'heck is he not rich? :)

  • I found the solucion if you don't have a viewport cube.. just press alt , then press the mousewhwheel and move the mouse around, that should work.. Nice tutorial!

  • U R AWESOME TEACHER MILLION THUMBS UP !!!!

  • what if you dont got a mouse ? if your using a laptop how would you soom in and out and rotate in a easy way?

  • @kirbyn12 Go Ahead And Buy A Mouse For The Laptop,Unless You Are Professional In Using Sensor Pad...lol/..:)

  • @PrinceSephiroth No, I'm the boss.

    Help?

  • Thanks for the tutorials because i'm used to autodesk maya

  • Your tutorials are very helpful. Thank you for putting them together.

  • He reminds me the SHAMWOW guy :) :D

  • @GepardoSnaiperis

He reminds me of Carlton from Rhoda. LOL!

  • and BAM xD

  • 5 people didn't get a teapot XD

  • I actually love it, how you litrally take the time to explain bit by bit these programs, from after effects, which I am now really good at, thanks to you :) and even more difficult programs like this. I bet it takes you ages to edit everything, so I'd like to personally thank you, and for the other 44,423 people who have watched THIS VIDEO ALONE.

  • Thank you! ... Nice videos ;) 6/5!

  • @justbullittko 6/5! ??? anyway they are better than 5!!!

  • My 3DSM doesn't have a stearing wheel either X_@

  • @Khayteabug82 Older versions of 3DS MAX don't hawe options that newer versions hawe, like steraing wheel or that Cube thingy (can't remember a name -.-'). I have 3DS MAX 7 and it's missing few options that 3DS MAX 2010 has. :)

  • @Khayteabug82 this is a graphic bug. You can do this by going to the start, all program, then the 3d max folder, then click change graphic mode, and check DX 9.0 instead of DX 10.0 or lower. This should help.

  • My 3DSM doesn't have a view cube D:<

  • what's the diff between maya and this?.

  • @MrChubib0

Main difference is that, when working on animations for Unreal Engine, the Max exports it 1:1, while Maya has problem with mirrored side of the skeleton. Check out the UDN video tutorial called "Skeletal Mesh Pipeline - Using UDK", the 3rd video "Mirror Tables".

  • @MrChubib0 Hmmmm good point guess this is better?

  • I watched some of your Tutorials, and BAM ! I liked them... I think I should watch all 955 videos uploaded by you. Thanx man !!!

  • Up and down, thats a good one :) lol
