Have a blessed day!

  • Amen My Brother!@MrBigsmok

  • Veezy, which church did you die for or were given the keys to? I suggest that you set the rules for that one and leave the one Christ died for alone.

  • Well.. I grew up in the COC & I have to agree with the Methodist Preacher. If we use musical instruments or not, does it have any bearing on our right to salvation? There are so many more important things we should focus on as Christians. Such as charity, promoting peace, visitng the sick, giving of our time to spread the GOOD NEWS, prayer, supplication and LOVE to be shared around the world. Music in worship or not is really not important. It's like the Jehovah Witness and B-days. Who cares?

  • @veezyvizzle I do not think it is actually fair for you to say that you grew up in the Church when your lack of growth is evident.

  • @veezyvizzle Yes it does because the Early Church sang Acapella. We are the same Church that started in Acts 2:38 and also in Romans 16:16 and also the only Church you can read about in the New Testament! And since the New Testament Christians didn't use instruments, we don't use instruments, it's just that simple.. Ephesians 5:19 also tells us to "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord," This says it all!

  • Cold chills on the back of my neck........umm, ummm, ummm......

  • @MethodistPreacher The Church of Christ does not having instruments during worship service because you (or anyone else) can not find New Testament scripture that charges the church to use them. the Church of christ follows New Testament scripture only.....Mr Preacher as you know (or should) the Mosaic law was killed when Jesus came to die for our sins. You can't pick and choose what you see fit to follow.

  • The Methodist Preacher pointed out a valid problem. The man that "sounds like a bass guitar" is not singing. The Bible teaches that we should be "teaching and admonishing in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs." Each Christian is to obey that command. The man that "sounds like a bass guitar" is violating that scripture because no one is being taught or admonished by his bass sound. Lets keep looking at scripture and making sure that we are being obedient and not just following traditions.

  • @quietnesswisdom He may SOUND like a bass guitar, but I bet he's not trying to! He is using his voice, just in a deep pitch! And just a note for bass singers: most of the time, the man that's singing bass(at the time) is usually SINGING the words, just at a tad different speed, to keep the speed of the song! Point is COC members don't use instruments. It just so happens that the voice God gave us, gives us the creativity to SING and SING like the possible sound of an instrument!

  • @quietnesswisdom could it be that the bass guitar was made to replicate a vocal sound through mechanics?

  • I do AGREE with the MethodistPreacher on that...We should sing melody and make music in our hearts to the Lord. Edifying with our words...And sounding like an instrument is not edification. We should sing our hearts out to the Lord! BTW David NEVER came into the temple with his harp...He always played outside in the courts...And if you study you would understand that we were commanded in the New Testament to "sing" not Play musical instruments. Man "added" and brought that in on their own accord

  • @a1xluv I love your insights and edification about David's instrument..... I wish more believers would realize that David "danced" outside, not inside the temple..... well that will be another debate for some, but I thank you for sharing your thoughts

  • To MedthodistPreacher : It was the Catholic church, which did not start until the 6th century (600 years after the Bible was written) and when they started to use it, it split the catholic church during that time.

  • To MedthodistPreacher As a music and religious educator I would encourage you to do your own research and learn that it was several hundred years after the bible was written that there is any kind of record or mention by the earlier theologians (church fathers in history) about the use of instrumental music in the collective worship services.

  • To MedthodistPreacher The first instrument was the human voice therefore every mechanical instrument actually (reversed) is a sound reproduction of the vocal chords (the human voice).

  • To MedthodistPreacher The first instrument was the human voice therefore every mechanical instrument actually (reversed) is a sound reproduction of the vocal chords (the human voice).

  • To MethodistPreacher, I notice that you keep ending everything with "just my thoughts", Isn't that the crux of the problem, that they are just YOUR thoughts? Also, if there were no Methodist in the bible when it was closed what do they add to the equation?

  • Why don't they believe in instruments. Aren't there scriptures in Psalms about praising God with musical instruments?

  • @dieunous NOPE! if there is, tell me somethin'!

  • The bible says that we should sing with melody from our hearts. That is why we do not use instruments. We don't need them look how great they sound. God Bless!

  • Louvado Seja o Senhor e Salvador JEsus Cristo!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Absolutley sounds amazing!!

  • Wonderful singing!!!

  • I have a sister that lives in Rochester!!!!! I'll google it so that I can worship there when I come to visit!

  • (SINGING) as we are commanded to do. Eph.5:19,Col.3:16 among many others

  • David also sacrificed animals to push his sins back 1 year. We don't worship like David anymore, the kingdom is here and we, who are in the Christ's Church, live in His kingdom.

  • Well God have make the his church the Church of Christ, God Bless the his Church !!!!

  • DAvid used a Harp, remember

  • I agree with "The Parkview Singer". We(the COC) sing with our vocals not the man made instruments. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the bible say that the materialistic things, like instruments, are all going to perish?? Just a thought

  • To the "Methodist Preacher". That's what you call bass and a nice sound system with good acoustics.......The vocal chord is the original instrument. All instruments that came after are replicating sounds that man's vocal chords can produce.....just without being limited by breath. Do you not agree?

  • i have a slight problem with this...while the coc does not believe in instruments (as they interpret the Pauline scripture)...I don't think Paul had in mind that we sound like instruments...one guy sounded like a bass guitar! It's like the 7th Day Adventists who don't eat pork or some who are vegetarians will buy that fake pork or meat product...that 'tastes like' what they believe they should not eat? Harmony is one thing...but replicating instruments is another...just my thoughts...no harm.

  • One thing we have to remember is that GOD is a spirit and seeketh such to worship him . We must worship him in spirit and in truth. Christ was specific as to how we were to worship him. We can not worship GOD how we chose to worship him but rather how he wants to be worship. We in the CHURCH OF CHRIST are not different just for the sake of being different,or for the sake of arguement but we are different because GOD commands us to be. Ask;we will give book, chapter and verse to support our claim.

  • Trust me, I know the Scriptures and I know the basic Scriptures the coC uses as its Doctrine. The matter is not so much Scripture but the interpretation thereof. Of which I will not debate. You see it as a command not to use intruments in worship, I see it as an encouragement to the church towards their daily Christian walk without regards to the formal worship experience. Again, just my thoughts and spiritual insight.

  • @MethodistPreacher

I dont understand your comment in the context of 2nd Pet. 1:20 that no scripture is of private interpretation, and 2 Tim 2:15 which shows there is a definitive way to understand scripture. If you believe in instrumental music to worship God in the new testament, do you have any biblical support for that position? That is a sincere question and I am all ears. God bless.

  • @MethodistPreacher Jus because i can make a sound like a chicken does that mean i am 1?? Still the bass is using his vocals.. Nothing plugged up, jus a gift from Gid that heb is using... All his voice nothing more..

  • @MethodistPreacher the Lord does not need your approval. Did you advise Him in the beginning, will you instruct Him in the end? Who called you anyway did your comments build up or tear down? If you will not speak for Him then be silent. Because the proof is in the pudding, put up or shut up. My retort is sharp because we, you and I, will be among the first to stand for judgment.

  • @MethodistPreacher you have me laughing at the observation about the 7th Day Adventist, yeah many like to say they are "vegeterians" but boy you should see the "ginger chicken" made in China, on their plates............and yes, yes, yes, we should sing, sing, and sing some more to the praise of God, rather than "replicating"

  • You've still got it! ~PoeticDiva

  • Now that's how you have church! God bless.

  • loved it !!!!! Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AWESOME!
