  • Christianity is so backward; shall we love nature as something (the Jewish) god made, or hate it as sinful and leading us astray? The book of Nature: is it the book of god or the book of the devil? BOTH are justifiable positions in the Bible. Try another religion that doesn't require you hate yourself and submit to one man in order to be a good person.

  • @Hellskald The 'missing link' as it were between those two positions is, of course, the doctrine of the Fall. I can't really blame you for missing it, given that it is treated upon only throughout the entire Bible. [/sarcasm]

I'm not sure where you get this idea that Christians are to hate themselves. We are to deny ourselves, but ultimately the pursuit of virtue and of eternal life is one certainly undertaken in self-interest. And to love something is to want what is best for it.

  • Sure, it isn't aggressive ...

  • In all their majesty, they will remind me...

    that I am Your child,

a small reminder of Your light in the vastness of the world.

    Yes, my G*d, take me-

    draw me close-

breathe me in, O my G*d,

and take me as the groom takes His bride,

and I will be Yours for all my days.

  • You will vanquish the emptiness of my desire, the desert that lives inside my heart, my soul, then, O G*d my G*d, then You will brand Your mighty name upon the heart of my heart, and the blood of my blood, and I will know Your Power- the hush that is Your desire- the calm that is the holy temptation of Your embrace, the stillness that is the agonizing ecstasy of Your arms and the burning love, the passion that is the whisper of Your sweet breath upon my face.
  • As You sow Your love in my garden, let me keep custody of my eyes-

that they may flee from anything that is not Your face,

my empty countenance escaping into the world,

    only filth, mere expression ,

lost to the four winds all too quickly.

  • You are every corner of the world, You! You, O my Life! You will protect me, You will always give me strength so that I may guard my tongue, so that it may not sing of any love of mine which is not You. Even all my sorrow- the smallest longing of my sadness- the anguish that are my tears- the bitter vinegar that is the anger of my will- these, each one, by the kiss of Your love, You will raze to the earth.
  • Praise You, O G*d, my G*d! You are grafted onto the doorway of my heart, Your spirit guards my soul, which You call Your home. You, O G*d, are the sentinel of my eternity. The brilliance of Your love- the sublime touch of Your power, all directed to any who would wish me harm. You, O G*d, never slumber, You take no rest inside the silver universe that is Your Being; every word... every breath from Your mouth... each caress of Your arms- by them am I cradled in the joy of the everlasting.
  • @goodcatholicboy ok nice

  • I'd love to say I enjoy this, because it's politically correct to do so. Zzz...

  • @Jazzdog40 Next time you think you have something to say, raise your hand.

Then put it over your mouth.

  • Shes got the X factor

  • Se siente "divino"..... Agradecida....

  • Divine Inspiration. Absolutely.

  • Who are the singers? Is this the ensemble Sequentia?

  • This music calms the soul and also heals it, that's why it's so calming. We're outward manifestations of our own souls mentally and physically. When the spirit is at peace everything else comes to peace in our lives. : )

  • i'm just this random skater-stoner but i love it

    calms me down :)

  • Good ol' Hildegard- rockin' YouTube over 800 years after her death! No sell-by date on PURE CLASS!

  • I used to be christian, but I found reasons to leave the church. I didn't become atheist by the way, but I'm not christian anymore. However, even through the several years that have passed since I left church, I've always believed that there's a God. This kind of music makes me believe it even more.

Thanks a lot for sharing this. God bless.

  • Haha, i found myself on the wiki page of her, no idea how.

Just to get a broad knowledge, i read it and read that she singed.

So i check it out, and I have to say, I rly like it. Tho i have pretty much nohing to do with religion or all kind of stuff that goes into that direction. But im just into good music, and she sings so beautiful...

I searched for "music" of that type and I didnt knew I searched it. But im glad I found it. : )

  • What would the genre of this music be?

  • @nickhodgins11 Medieval plainchant, music sung by monks or nuns during worship. It developed into the Gregorian chant a little later on.

  • Inconceivable that such peaceful music inspires religious judgement, swearing, inane talk and what not. If I were prosepp, I would remove it all to keep the vibration of this page beautiful, instead of vile, because it detracts.

I'm always amazed how people actually can tell what god/God thinks, knows, or disapproves of (but not them!). It's laughable. It's superbly arrogant too. Sinful, if you think of it. ;)

  • Beautiful music, religion or no religion.

  • these "creationists" take the cake ! brain damaged at birth ?

  • Today I heard on BBC4 that there have been found a 18 thousend Years old cave pictures made by a child according to the size of the fonger prints left around the picture. And also there is no any chance for the earth continent plates to be at their current position if they are so new. And also there is no human artefacts in the same earth geological layers with the dinosaurs. They are in to a different historical geological layers. All scientist cant make the same mistake.

  • @Prometheuszak how can us humans possibly know how old something is? we always estimate, genesis before the flood is from beggining to about 2000 years after creation, then all the rest of the old testiment is about 5000 years then the new testament is about 300 years and the add all the way up to now thats 2000 so the world is around 9000 years old the dinosaurs didnt exist untill god said let the creatures roam earth with man and the first man was adam and there were no "cavemen"

  • @08Ghost893 You can't be serious, I really hope you're just one amazing troll. I mean seriously, how we can possibly know the age of something? Carbon 14. That way we can see how degraded is an object. How we know that? Well, if we put a certain object there laying in the earth for 1 year, take it out and look at it, we see degradation. When the level of degradation is thousand time higher, you get the point. The bible is wrong on some points, but who cares it wasn't written by god.

  • @08Ghost893 the bible is not to be perceived as a literal text . it has hidden meanings and metafores .

Do not forget that it was written by men.

Genesis is a proposal to the creation . and it must be viewed as such .

The earth isnt 9000 years old. if you say that then you are showing the worst side of religion, blind faith and dogmatism .

Most catholics agree with me . Science and religion aren't oposites . in fact , they complement each other.

And dude, seriously, stopp trolling .

  • If the world is just 8000 Years old as 08Ghost893 suggest then our museums are full with fake dinsaurs bones, fossils and artefacts.

  • @Prometheuszak actually the dinosaurs roamed the earth along with adam and eve and the time before the great flood the dinosaurs died in the flood and from that we have found the fossils of them and shaped them, no the fossils and artifacts are not fake theyre just exaggerated from scientists- and from that the earth is only about 9000 years old

  • This is just beautiful, I could listen to this forever.

  • I can't wait for humans to stop reducing God to the limits of their imagination.

  • @UnRoman111 is God only in the Image of Christ ? Is God onlythere, where the Holy Cross is?

This hymn is worshipping the third divine person in the Holy Trinity, The Holy Spirit.

Think about it, and you may understand, why there is no cross, neither an image of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, in this video.

    May God always bless you

    Eduard

  • @prosepp

Question is, what is god, how to rly explain the holy spirit? Has it rly smth to do with Christians? Has it even smth to do with religion?

    But very nice answer!

    sorry for bad english. peace

  • @prosepp Jesus has sat at the right hand of the father. He will return and soon. But as long as we are on earth, we have the comforter, our teacher, the Holy Spirit.

Hallelujah, the holy spirit is the miracle worker, it can even heal the most uncurable disease. As I am listening to this video I am feeling a dense presence of God's holy presence in my room.

To Jesus be all the glory and the praise!

    God Bless

  • @UnRoman111 I have since come to know God as a whimsical artist who fills the world with creatures like the porcupine and skunk and warthog, who lavishes the world with wildflowers and tropical fish more beautiful than any design on display in an art museum.

  • Which of the Gods?

Christianity is here just 3000 years ago...

2.5 million years since the appearance of the genus Homo,

200,000 years since humans started looking like they do today,

Where was any of our Gods before even 100 000?

    Vacation?

People like you do crucifixеd and burn all those bright brayns during the dark ages when the church command us to believe that the Earth is flat.

    Enough.

  • @Prometheuszak the earth is only around 9000 yrs old it says that in the bible and the are no "gods" there is only God the lord almighty, god isnt a type of being, God is the creators name as we know also known as Yaheaweai or Jehova.

  • @UnRoman111

We do not live by what we see or feel or touch. We live by faith. For the just shall live by faith, says the Holy Scripture.

If you rely on your carnal mind, you will gain nothing from the kingdom of God. But I tell you, if you open your heart to the Holy Spirit, there is life and there is every good thing you will enjoy in life. Trust in God, may his spirit fill you with all the blessings that it may fill your house to its fullest and over flow.

  • @UnRoman111 The woman who composed this piece, Hildegard Von Bingen was one of the first female nuns who the Roman Priest allowed to go around and preach, and she was also a composer and one of the first female composers of the church. Most of her music was inspired by the church, but how it is perceived is all up to the listener. I hope that helps a little (am taking a music history class, so that's how I know)

  • @RisenAngel17 I always thought Hildegard's music was intended for liturgical use, as she was a nun. She was a seer (had visions and made prophecies), as well as an herbalist and very interested in science, or whatever passed for science in the Middle Ages, including music. She was a woman of great courage and resourcefulness.

  • @looterish Don't ask me, I'm not a music major -__-

  • @UnRoman111 seems that you dont understand the composers ambitions when he wrote that song .

  • @Xafos It wasn't a he. Hildegard was a woman. Interesting woman too, you should look into her.

  • @TheHaloSlips thx i will :)

  • @UnRoman111 yet god created our beautiful nature.

  • @UnRoman111 you sir are a moron, youve no right to demand christ be put in this video. the creator of this video choose these images to be the background. you think that every holy/religious song should portray images of christ? you close minded and i pity you...for you are hollow

  • Very beautiful but you should listen as well in easter orthodoxy hymns...Totally mystical and ethereal hymns...

  • I'm an atheist and I love this music.

  • @TheStupidDrunk nice to hear that.

I have also called myself an atheist for some times of my life. But finally God opened my eyes and showed me that there is more, and a much better life when one accepts him.

I am very thankful that HE awoke me.

Greetings and good wishes to you

  • @prosepp I'm an atheist myself, and I'm interested to hear how you moved from being an atheist to being a believer. Are you now Christian?

  • @TheStupidDrunk

It's the voice of god in you, whispering "you are not alone". ;)

  • @TheStupidDrunk I'm an atheist myself as well, and I've come enjoy choral music from the Trecento and Quatrocento period.

  • I don't know what the bird images have to do with a sanctified spirit, but the music is so inspiring and uplifting and so gorgeous. Have loved Hildegard since I first heard her Ave Maria. What can come close to that singular voice of praise? It is a gift for anyone that listens.

  • kaunista..kaunista!

  • .

Anybody who say they´re not Chirstina and feel this music in their heart, say in reality they are.

Every soul is Christian, as Saint Agustine said.

Do not worry and do not hurry to label yourselves. It is useless, because the mighty river of Divine love blows every human labeling away.

A son never forgets he is one. Never.

...It seems so strange to me now that there was a time in my life when I used to say I was agnostic.

    Love. Love. Love Divine.

  • @lovefaithhopelove Christians have killed millions of innocent people over the centuries in the name of their religion, My soul is too pure to be Christian.

  • "My soul is too pure to be Christian"

First you demonstrate how much you don't even realise what Christianity is, and then you say something that is contradicted by your username lol

  • @Northbound89 First of all you have numerous spelling errors, second of don't try and use a satirical username as an argumentative point it makes you look like a fool and accomplishes the purpose of my name. And i'm sorry but I couldn't make much sense out of what you said, You've obviously never heard of the Crusades.

  • What spelling errors? Your username must be more literal than you think lol

I said you don't realise what Christianity is. Christianity calls on every man and woman to live virtuously and strive for interior purity as Christ commanded. The Crusades themselves were defensive wars against Muslim conquests of Christian lands. If any wrongs were committed by Christians it was not in the name of Christ, but for their own selfish gain.

  • @Northbound89 Okay kid you can argue about religion and talk about your interpretation of it. I'm not going to waste my time with an argumentative child over something I don't believe to have any validity as a theory or an organization. It's a profit scam now, I'll talk to you when your precious churches start paying taxes like everyone else. For now, I'll enjoy this music.

  • No, it's not about my own interpretation of it. Unlike you and most other people, I try to find out how to properly interpret it and how it has been interpreted by the Magisterium, early Church Fathers and all the Doctors and Saints of the Church. There is no validity behind your comment that it is a profit scam. That is your own simple interpretation of it.

I think the major reason why you're incapable of understanding the true meaning of the Church is the enormous amount of pride you have.

  • @Northbound89 I'm sorry, originally they were defense against the Muslims, but sooner than later it turned into religious campaigns.

  • It was a religious campaign from the start.

  • @Northbound89 Therefore my interpretation is of equal validity. Pride? What Pride? I never once made a statement saying i was proud of anything. Just drop it kid, you're never going to convince me that you're older than 13 if your debating skills are as shallow as personal insults. You fear death just like everyone else therefore you find something like Christianity to take your mind off it so you can gain reassurance there will be life after death rather than accepting the fact its a mystery.

  • Your interpretation is hardly of equal validity. You're hardly a St. Thomas Aquinas lol

You demonstrated your pride more than once. It would be normal for you to be blind to your pride.

    Have I insulted you?

Your guess on why I am a Christian is wrong by the way.

  • @Northbound89 By your own words you claim all interperetations to have equal chance of validity. And with the underlying fact that Christianity and the writings have not been proven each interperetation is just as valid as the other no matter how bizzare. Now please stop attempting to argue over the internet, Theres real problems in the world and your precious "Christianity" is causing a lot of them.

  • Your ignorant interpretation is nowhere near as valuable as that of the sources I mentioned. St. Thomas Aquinas for example, actually devoted his life to the study of the Church. What have you done besides come to your own private conclusions based upon pseudo-academia with an anti-christian bias.

Just because God hasn't personally visited you doesn't mean Christianity is null and void.

I would suspect that the real problems of the world are due to a rejection of Christianity.

  • @Northbound89 leave the atheist alone. There is no point fighing with a wall of hipocrisy.

  • @TheStupidDrunk You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. The majority of this country is Christian. Go away you're ignorance is only amusing me

  • @TheStupidDrunk

Little do you know, it is your own ignorance that is keeping you amused.

Another reason why your interpretation means nothing is because you do not believe. Since you do not believe, you cannot understand. What the Church truly is and how she works doesn't concern people like you, because you obviously hate the truth.

  • @Northbound89 A bit presumptuous don't you think? I was a christian for about 14 years afterall. And then I grew up and learned it was all a scam. You'll learn eventually. Just like Santa Claus

  • I'm going to take your advice and "go away". There is nothing more to be exchanged between us.

  • @Northbound89 I love you baby ;)

  • @TheStupidDrunk you are just as you describe yourself. a stupid drunk. enough said.

    God bless your soul.

  • @UnRoman111 Lololol you didn't read my comments kid. lolol satirical name lololol go to bed lolol you're not good enough for this music lololololol im angering you enough to waste your life writing a comment myworks DONE

  • @TheStupidDrunk "lolololol" i am not anger on you man, chill out ok? you are like a clown here. Atheists are ........"done"

  • Yeah, and St Augustine being one of the early Chuch Fathers would also have said no one outside of the Church could be saved. You're just spouting religious indifference which is heretical. How is every soul Christian when not every soul is baptized and not everyone follows Christ's divine revelation?

  • @lovefaithhopelove So, I feel this music in my heart it changes my mood, but what if I said rock, trance, and other songs from different genres made me feel the same way? One key does not fit all.

  • @RaiShizaki

There is a difference, a massive difference in fact. This music of purity directs a soul towards God whereas rock and trance do the opposite.

  • @Northbound89 And who are you to judge the purity of music? Music is there to allow one to enjoy themselves, and to express the freedom of ones soul. And music does not "direct" ones soul, music opens paths into which you can "lead" your own soul.

  • @RaiShizaki

I'm not judging. It is obvious which music is spiritual and which isn't. The decadence that surrounds trance and rock is abominable. You don't have to be of high intelligence to realize what the music of Hildegard von Bingen is intended for.

  • Bravo Hildegard, habe heut den kleinen Garten umgestochen, da kommen Kartoffeln und Kräuter rein. Dann klapps auch mit den flieisigen Bienchen...

  • vøll_geïl_lÉutè_sucht_mÃl_ÑÀch:_olikohle_åùf_g0ØglÊ_vÖll_gèìl

  • Heh, on of the first classical composers, Hildegard of Bingen, kind of interesting to think about when you compare her to say Beethoven

  • In heaven we shall all rejoice in the splendor of our Lord.

We were created to worship and to communicate and to live with God. It is amazing.

  • Wow! Beautiful. Written by a Philosopher, Scientist, Composer, Healer and Pioneer of holistic medicine, Progenitor of women's lib and rights, Advisor to (kings, bishops, popes), Playwright, Poet, Nun, Botanist, Brewer. She was first to write of the female orgasm. Even more importantly though- She first to add those health giving, beer preserving, flavour giving aromatic hops to beer.
  • Agnostics, like myself, enjoy any music that lifts our ears, as this does for me. Thanks for putting it up. This is wonderful.

  • I may not be Christian, or indeed anything remotely resembling it, but even I can appriciate the angelic beauty of plainsong. I can't imagine any sound more holy can be made by human tongues. Well, maybe some chiors, but that's not my point.

  • this music is simply beautiful and inspiring. it really gives one a sense of the purity of the authentic Christian tradition. God bless the soul of saint Hildegard.

    from a Muslim friend.

  • Holy Spirit comes to us as both light and sound. When you hear music that brings love into your heart, you are hearing the Divine Word directly. This is God speaking to you, one-on-one. Each of us hears listens differently and the Divine Love we experience in music is simply a matter of our level of acceptance.

  • ;-)

  • I am an Indian Hindu and this is the one of the most peaceful and beautiful music I have ever heard in my life, Thank you Hildegard,

  • loved 5:35

  • One of the reasons that monks and nuns observe the vow of silence is that when they do open their mouths, the only sound that one hears is that of praising God. Not historically uplifting, I guess. Still, its good to remember that one of the purposes of monasticism is to pray for the world because the world cannot pray for itself, at least that was the reason in 996 ace. Come to think of it, have things changed very much?

  • i wish there was gay porn in his video

  • Just Beautiful and Peaceful…

So Far Of Modern Days Hate and Intolerance…

    Thank You!

  • When we sing like this, we are lifted to the angelic world, and dance with them in our hearts

  • What a spectacular presentation we've here, thank you for sharing! With all love and light, : )

  • Hildegarde était vraiment une grande dame...

    Greetings from France !

  • Ausgezeichnet

  • Einfach großartig...

  • "This is the ancient that never dispels." -M. G. Stone

  • We think our plastic world is reality. Rubbish. THIS IS REALITY. Ultimate truth and beauty. may you find it now.

  • Hildegard von Bingen, or HVB, actually wrote some pretty cool things. The standard view of western science of her day was that in human procreation, the female contributed nothing to the new life, but was merely a vessel in which the new life grew. She maintained that the female contribution was equal, which we know through modern science is closer to the truth.

  • i heard this song in the church to day :)

  • i think its beautiful! :D

  • This song is called ¨Spiritus Sanctus¨. It is a praise to the Holy Spirit and, at the same time, comes from Him.

It is a call to allnon'Christians to open themselves tho The Source of all love, tho Love itself.

  • @lovefaithhopelove thanks, you just killed it for me :P

  • God speaks to your hearts through this song. Do not try to just see it as a good means of meditation. It is much more than that - it is a call for you to open your hearts and become His true children, which means to be born in the Spirit.

Praise the Father, join the body of Christ, be washed in His blood and live in the Fire of the Holy Spirit.

  • Hildegard is not the worst thing to listen to in this crazy whirlpool-like world :)

    Lovely series of photoshots!

  • das hatten wir am montag im musikunterricht.....ich finde das lied voll toll...sehr schön :-)

  • What is going on here are frequency that resonate the inner being the soul or light within. Spiritual teachers of the world use the frequency to unlock inner travel or alter states of Consciousness. The LOVE that takes over your body is the same as those who use drums, Tibet Healing bowls, Gong. So much wisdom has been lost to HUman that we have to re discover the secrets of wisdom.Great Post - I came to this clip by reading a book called retrun of the children of the light -

    Look into & LOVE U

  • I cannot even entertain the thought of angels singing before the throne of God. It is beyond me.

  • @savemeFather that´s surely behind what we can even imagine.

What we can do is trying to lead a good live so that we once will be able to join their worship

  • @savemeFather for one thing we don't know what either look like. i wonder if we'll ever find out...

  • @savemeFather

When we sing like this, we are lifted up to companion the angels, and join in their never-ending dance of joy in our secret hearts

  • @savemeFather Hello Gregg, Why not? Surely if we are the children of God, would our father not be pleased with his childrens efforts though they might fall far short of his teaching and he might wince at our childish attempt. I think he would still encourage us and draw us to him in love and compassion, so that we might refine ourselves more. Did God say 'Stop there, and come no closer? I think not. of course every individual must take extreme care, lest we might be blinded with his light

  • @savemeFather

    gay

  • thanks prosepp fore al your chant videos

  • @dirkvp78 glad you like them.

  • @hellrazor117 yes, praise the Lord !!

May HE always bless and shelter you

  • Thank you for a truly Magnificent and Wonderful arrangement!!! I played your video today while planting a hanging basket floral arrangement for my oldest daughter's birthday. Some of the flowers I planted for her were Snap Dragons in honor of my mother who's name was also Hildegard. Thank you so much for blessing my day!!!

  • @beyondtheparadigm i am sure God himself blessed your day. And i hope he will bless all your days.

All i do is sometimes a little try to illustrate the grace of God

  • Simply beautiful. Thank you and thanks to our friend mary who kindly shared. ♥

  • @weeyin1155 thanks for stopping by. May God bless you

  • its relaxing, but i've liked chanting music because although it may be slow and tranequil, it seems mysterious and a lil scary to me. it's the key i think. sad, but solemn.

  • @helencheddar no, there is no sadness in these chants. Maybe it seems so when one listens from "outside".

Its glorification of God´s mystery, its worship on his deeds and his creation.

    Be blessed and sheltered

  • so beautiful..shared with friends tonight ..mary

  • @terigower thanks for sharing, Mary.

May you always be blessed and sheltered

    Eduard

  • @prosepp

hello Eduard just here in the night this is still so beautiful

  • @terigower i am sure you are right

  • If the Truth was a form a music, I think this would be the closest thing to it... Nothing inspires me more than the pure voice of a pious catholic woman ! What a contrast with the World.
