Motion 4 Tutorial : Another Cool Text Trick

When I try to use the select tool to re-size the text, there is no box. I can use the HUD to change the font, but it bothers me that I can't simply click and drag. do you know how to fix this?

Okay so i do okay up to the Lemon text, I made sure that when i added dazzle I had changed Group 1 (the one with clouds in) to a 3D group. Then when i added lemon it was behind the cloud text, the cloud text is really dominant and obvious and it looks like it just has a lemon shadow...someone help im totally new at this

HEY YALL..... ARE YOU HAVING THE RESIZING ISSUE...... THERE WAS AN OLDER USER WHO FOUND WHAT FIXES THIS ISSUE...... YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE GROUP THAT HOLDS THE DAZZLE TO A 3D GROUP....... @5:39 you say to turn on your 2 Text group layers. When I do that, I am getting what looks like 2 of the same word. Its like one layer is slightly offset from the other and the background word is white and the foreground word is white but its the same word! Im following everything you saying step by step but you lost me on this one!

you just have to go in the dazzle group tab and turn 2d to 3d

I have the same problem as a couple of other guys here. When I add the dazzle effect the text widens out and no longer overlaps original text. I have tried to scale it down, but this is ineffective. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have the same problem as blacmama. Everything goes well until I click on the FACE for the copied text layer. I don't get white text, but the clouds show through. This must have something to do with defaults set up before hand.  Any clue?

Hey, for some reason when I add the dazzle filter it automatically increases the size of my text so that the text is two times as big and partially off screen. have any idea why that's happening?

@AppleShakeGuru Yeah, it works but then there is a black outline on group 1 ! And obviously if I un-tick it the dazzle goes too. Some help here would really be appreciated.

@AppleShakeGuru The problem with that black outline comes from the clouds as i just found out,(could it have something to do with the pixel aspect ratio settings there? there is a weird shifting with the text going on man, i hope this might help you to crack this issue, if someone can help here it's you!

@joshlee1090... I had the same or similar problem. I was working in a DV 16x9 anamorphic project. Maybe that was the issue - not sure. Anyway I went to the dazzle properties and adjusted the x property to 83.5%. That seemed to do the trick.

great tutorial man, i've learnt a LOT through your tuts on motion as well as other apps! check my channel - theres a vid called 'Forget The Sales'. Thats using just a standard digital camera recording in 720p @30fps but using optical flow and match move in motion (both learnt from you) as well as other filters to give it a more film-esque look..! i'd appreciate any feedback!

Everything works fine but when I turn the face for the duplicated layer on it's still masked out - no solid text! Help someone please?

is your text black? like the same color as your background? make sure they're in separate groups so the mask doesn't affect both text layers.
