Da das Video "The March of the Nazis" letztendlich mit einer Hitlerrede endete wurde das Video offensichtlich von YouTube gesperrt und gelöscht . Leider war es jedoch das einzige Video mit der bislang schönsten TenorParts aus Beethovens Ode . Ich weiss nicht aus welcher Zeit und unter wem dirigiert und gesungen . Ich weiss nur dass es das grösste und beste Arrangement eines Tenors und Orchesters war welches man bei dem Video zu hören bekam .

Dieser Part von Beethovens Ode dirigiert von Celibidache ist klangtechnisch der beste welchen ich je gehört habe . Ein grossartiges Arrangement mit grosser Chorleistung .... . Es gab auch hier auf YouTube im Jahre 2010 ein Video mit Bildern aus der Kriegszeit aus dem zweiten Weltkrieg unter dem Titel "The March of the Nazis" . Dieses Video war mit dem schönsten grossartigsten TenorPart von Beethovens Ode untermalen . Glasklar und einmalig gesungen im Einklang mit dem grossartigen Orchester .

This is the 1st time I hear Celibidache Beethoven 9th. (I have his Beethoven 5th CD, very inspirating too). I keept about 10- Karajan (2), Bernstein, Toscanini, Solti, Bohm, Melta, Ozawa, Abbado, Kemperer. I do believe we may have 2 or more collections as our very favorites- depend on our mood. Just like eating, we eat lighter when weather is hot and heavy at cold winter.

BTW for Be 9, I always enjoy listening 5 recordings( out of 10) all round in the last 30 years.

Yes, it seems so "slow" only because the Celibidache's sounds go in the "inside" direction of spirituality. You can also compare the Mozart's Requiem (626) done by these two Directors.

I prefer Celibidache.

Celi is my favorite. He's director style is slow. Strange as it is, his slowness is very dynamic. Through this slowness, he shows us more music. He hated recording because he fears the technicians changed the tempo and flow of the piece which destroy what he created outside the notes.

And that is exactly the reason why

Today I listened to the CD and it was a absolutely "wow" experience for me!!! But here in this video it´s not the same (strange) Maybe it´s because it is only a part from the 4th movement and so it´s maybe to less to understand that big musical bow in this piece, but when you hear it from the very beginning till the end it´s easily fantastic (for me)! I thank God for such a fantastic composer and such a fantastic conductor!

I think it might be about sound quality being better on the CD of course, and how you may have been pulled right inside the symphony and sort of moved alongside its trajectory from start to finish.

I agree Celibidache is a brilliant conductor but with all due respect, Furtwängler's 'pole position' in Beethoven's Ninth is unbeatable.

Furtwängler IS Beethoven's Ninth (check out Berlin'42 or Bayreuth'51 or Vienna'54)

Celibidache has been my favorite conductor for years. Thanks for posting this!

Many recordings of Celibidache are live recordings, because he conceived music as eminently live performance.

Some of them are also a bit "stolen" recordings, and sometimes the quality of the sound depends on where the microphones are. I do not wish to say this is a Stolen recording of course, but maybe this time the micros were very close to the percussion section (hypothesis).
