This game is good. If you are looking for a hardcore sim, this is not it, but it's a fun game. I enjoyed creating my own team and choosing the sponsors, liveries, team mate, etc. I don't like that brown atmosphere this game has, but if you are on PC, you can easily change that with a mod.
@TheLegomasterdx Its better than shift 1and2, not a sim but is the best arcade track racing game out there. 900 degrees of steering and 6 speed shifter compatible. (no clutch on ps3 but i heard the pc has a mod 4 that). i got it on ps3 and its all i play with gt5. truly a top game!!

I like the racing genera specific review! I really had fun with Grid though it really is a realistic looking arcade racer. You made a good point about the replays because I watched almost all of them while progressing through the career. It was a good time to unwind in between races.

I think you guys are missing the point: GRID isn't intended to be a full-on racing sim, it's a game. The vehicles in F-Zero don't handle realistically (hell, they're not even real), but it still manages to be a ton of fun. Just because it features real cars doesn't mean it is going to be a full on sim.

Seeing how this is a 2007 game and it runs on dx9 I think the physics deserve a better score than 50. When you crash it is very realistic. You can only take a hard crash if your on a low level.
guys when you make videos in widescreen mode you need to make sure to set up the correct aspect ratio when rendering otherwise it will not be displayed correctly when playing full screen on a wide screen moniter (which i have a 16:9 moniter) make sure you have the right aspect ratio when rendering :-)
@kinesas101 i dont know man. i somewhow like this one better. though there r things that r made better in shift. i think theyre both good games with ups n downs. for instance the way u can adjust the setting of your car in nfs is pretty cool (havent seen anything like that in grid but im still at the beginning), on the other hand i just like grids career mode better.
I think your being Unfair about Multiplayer. The average race I run has 8-12 players, if you move with the crowd through the different series the numbers dont really drop.

Nice review, one of the best i've seen on YouTube. Thats a pretty sweet gaming setup you got there, you should get a bigger monitor though. I picked up this game for $20 as well as NFS: Shift and i've only played the NFS once because of this game. Its great, lots of fun and has intense racing. The sound is awesome, one of those games where I like to turn off the music and crank up the surround sound. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves racing games as I do.
dudes forgot to mention, that for some reasons, most of the time you start your race at the end of the grid (for unknown reasons) and the most dangerous and fastest track have very poor track marks, so at the dark time of the race you arent sure where to go... Unless you got it for free don't buy it, waist of money!
I couldn't care less if this isn't a sim. GRID is definitely one of the most fun, if not the most fun racing game I've played in a while. Reminds me of my days back then playing Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. Sure, I enjoy buying tons of cars and all in GT and Forza. But in GRID, they just upped the immersion level by having someone talking to you and all while racing. It really feels like "you're in there", battling it out against brutal opponents (Ravenwest anyone?). It's pure excitement.
Agreed! I think the biggest problem today is too many approach racing games with the full expectations of a SIM. Games like GRID and NFS Shift are that "special" kind of arcade racer. They fall in between an arcade and SIM. I call games like GRID an NFS Shift (Arcasim Racers). They got KILLER graphics that without a doubt hang with SIM racers, and physics that are above your typical arcade racer. I found awesome user tweaks on line for the XBox wheel for GRID. Changed the whole gameplay!

Can someone share or point me in the direction for user tweaks on the X-Box Racing Wheel for this game???? I cannot get my wheel dialed in. It's far too easy to over-steer when using the controller.., but I find over-steer is just as much a problem when using the wheel. @simracingtonight Do u still have that wooden rig? i made one and finally got it stable (more than the some professional ones). I'm interested in how people improvise, i got a small foot stool with weights for the shifter and reconstructed old TV stand for the wheel. it wobbled and flexed all over the place till i put supports on its inner structure, now its solid. spent £250 on g27 and £250 on ps3, couldn't bring my self to spend on a rig aswell.

I bought this game knowing it was going to be more arcade-y than sim-y and I'm not disappointed in it. You can pick it up from most online retailers for around 30 now if not less (I got mine from Newegg for 27).
The joke is when someone comments about a show without watching it.. See what we rate the physics and how we call it an arcade racer. Then come back and tell me we considered it a sim..
I understand that, but the first chunk of the video it is referred to as a sim. "Career based sim", "Favorite effect ever in sim racing", "Now that you have heard alot about this sim".

@octavelu79 for you mate. Its boring for you. But for the GT fan base which is the biggest in the racing community there is no substitute for GT5. You gotta appreciate the game to love it. That goes for any game.

Can someone share or point me in the direction for user tweaks on the X-Box Racing Wheel for this game???? I cannot get my wheel dialed in. It's far too easy to over-steer when using the controller.., but I find over-steer is just as much a problem when using the wheel. I've tried to tweek the settings.., but I'm not having any luck..., HELP!

@simracingtonight Do u still have that wooden rig? i made one and finally got it stable (more than the some professional ones). I'm interested in how people improvise, i got a small foot stool with weights for the shifter and reconstructed old TV stand for the wheel. it wobbled and flexed all over the place till i put supports on its inner structure, now its solid. spent £250 on g27 and £250 on ps3, couldn't bring my self to spend on a rig aswell.

Hot damn, that's a thorough review, very well done.
I bought this game knowing it was going to be more arcade-y than sim-y and I'm not disappointed in it. You can pick it up from most online retailers for around 30 now if not less (I got mine from Newegg for 27).
I say pick it up to add to the collection.

I understand that, but the first chunk of the video it is referred to as a sim. "Career based sim", "Favorite effect ever in sim racing", "Now that you have heard alot about this sim".
When I first picked up this game I could tell it was not a sim at all. I don't even know why Sim Racing should be reviewing a game that is not even a sim.
