  • What the hell was wrong with the world back then?

I thank god every day for the women that fought for my independence.

    Power to the females. :)

  • I think I do hate men at times. We give birth and throughout times and still in some cultures today they still treat women like the "lesser" of the human race.I spit in the faces of those men and women that victimized these women...rot in hell-.-

  • Look into your own heart, i swear to you mines no different.

You want a place in the trades and professions where you can earn your bread, so do I.

you want some means of self expression some way of satisfying your personal ambitions, so do I.

you want a voice under the government in which you live, so do I. That hits me, and inspires me

  • @trinhxkoey Right on.

"Those who forget the past are condemmed to repeat it." George Santayana

  • 2:09 thank god for heavy boots and weak windows.

  • "'Give me liberty or give me death.' Patrick Henry, an American hero."

    "Apples and oranges!"

Ah yes, that may be so, but a wonderful movie called My Big Fat Greek Wedding once said, "we have the apples, and the oranges, but in the end we are all fruit."

  • Is there an official title/track for the music that plays at the beginning of this video/part? It's really catchy. :o

  • I know Hilary Swank wasn't the real women but she seems so much more badass because of this movie

  • My favorite part in this movie, "Look into your own heart, I swear to you mine's no different" you want a voice in a government under which you live? So do I! What is there to explain? Absolutely Brilliant!!

    My hero: ALICE PAUL!!!

  • HUMANS ARE THE WORST THEIR JUST LIKE ANIMALS THEY BULLY THE ONE DIFFERENT FROM THEM LIFE'S A BITCH

  • What conceptions of women, men, family, and government are presented in this movie?

  • We are still not free. If a woman makes it to the top and doesn't go along with the program she is ousted sooner or later through public humiliation or worse. Ask Martha Stewart.

  • @DragonflyNoir10 What was edited out?

  • @SKBAsJanu It was a brief nude scene.

  • Those men weren't men they were animals, cowards!!!! pretending to be part of the human race. Thanks for up loading!

  • this is a truely the best show of the courage that few women showed in those dark days. I especially loved what the doctor said..courage un women is often mistaken for insanity.

  • thanks for having this wewatched it in my history class i love this movie and now we have to do a project for it

  • Does anyone know what is the song at 2:53 - 4:14

  • @Shaarray it's called "will the circle be unbroken"

  • "Give me liberty or death"

  • Thanks a lot for uploading this important and very impressiv movie - I can´t comment on part 12, due to restrictions in my country, but the story moved me so much!

What a difficult movie to watch, not only because of the topic and some tough scenes, but also technically. Some parts are blocked in my country and part 6 isn´t found anywhere.

  • Did the white, yellow/gold & purple flag have any significant meaning? Like when they are picketing in front of the White House?

  • The most unbelievable part of this movie was that other women worked to keep women from voting, that other women encouraged what was being done to this amazing ladies in prison. It is almost incomprehensible what their motives were, it would be really cool to see how all the guys that perpetrated the crimes against the women in the movie reacted to understanding that everyone in the future hates them

  • One question: what is the name of the song that they sing in the scene? Thanks

  • @zafi22 It's called "Will the circle be unbroken".

  • @DragonflyNoir10 i not only love the song but i love this scene!

  • We just got done watching this movie in our U.S. History II class and I absolutely fell in love with it... It's funny that everyone always remembers ending slavery and allowing African Anerican Men to vote, we all also remember allowing White Southerners to vote, but no one thinks about the fight that Women went through, I didn't until yesturday, This movie and My History book has opened my eyes, I'm proud of these ladies, I'm proud to be a lady (:

  • @tatertotpudd yes i had no idea women had to fight to vote untill I learned it in class i always thought it was about your race. I admire all these women especially Alice Paul it must of taken alot of courage to go through what she went through. and i think Lucy Burns went through the same thing my teacher said the movie wasnt accurate.

  • @GellyRolll Seriously I first learned about women rights to vote etc was in 7th grade

  • son these women were some straight thugs...

  • Well said.

"Courage is often mistaken for insanity."

  • @DragonflyNoir10 ... mission accomplished?

  • I cried when they began to sing ...such simple grace and dignity ...I respect their courage to commit ♥wholeheartedly♥

  • Awh that guy talking to Alice Paul was a dick for drinking that glass of clean water!!!

  • i greatly thank those women who took those major steps for equality! it sickens me though to know that there are still men who are like those men attacking them- it's sad to know how some men today hurt women in favor for their pride.

  • Looks like Hilary can use a pair of boxing gloves; maybe she can call Clint and ask him if he still have the "million dollar" ones. Lol Excellent actress!

  • she doesnt sound crazy to me.. Thank goodness for women like this.. I mean. What they had to go through for the WOMANS VOTE.. very inspiring movie and clip.

    Thank you for posting clip

    Blessings

  • "courage in women is often mistaken as insanity" best line in the movie and so true

Ever notice that all powerful women in children's stories are called a witch?

and all powerful women today are called a bitch?

  • @flipmaya

I like being a bitch or maybe a witch... better than being the helpless princess ;)

  • its so sad...

the window breaking scene was so touching and hilary swank is pretty good i should admitt

  • Wow, these men are complaining about women fighting for the right to vote while the country is at war? How dare they fight those women when the world is at war? They are no better than what they are accusing the suffragists of! No decent man would treat a woman in such a horrible fashion.

  • All I know is that if my husband ever tried to treat me like that i'd chop off his ball and make them a necklace around his neck then cut off his *little friend* and sew it to his butthole.

  • Oh Lord By and By wasn't made until the 40's or 50's right? I love the song and it's place in the movie. Cried every time, it's my 5th time watching this, but historically speaking is this song in the right period?

  • i love her monolouge @ 6:25 She is amazing.

  • is that how America justified going against their own apparent values time and time again?

    "apples and oranges"

    "us and them"

  • finally i can hear in this clip the shrink s questions and her answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i watched in in SS class ; when they started sinqinq ; i qott qoosebumps ;

  • i watched this in social studies. such a good movie

  • mee too

  • It is a absolute CRIME the way these women were treated at the beginning of this part, and all throughout the movie. It is SAD that these men are so sexist and selfish that they treat women this way. I am a female, and I don't like to use language, but those men are such a**holes! (I'm not saying ALL men are like that, quite the opposite, I'm just pointing out how the men in the movie were acting.) Thank you for posting the movie. It's a great film about strong, courageous WOMEN!!!

  • Hey, I agree with you. I know it is all acting, and it shows that those actors were playing their parts well, their characters are detestable! And it IS a great film.

  • well dont forget this was a true film. this is how it all happened. this movie potrays the actions of men back then really well. actually the men treated the woman worse. they couldnt show all the bad stuff now can they??

  • @archergrl1996 This movie characterizes our history ladies. This isn't a great story about courageous women. What about love?

It is a cruel choice to have to make between the KIND of love unenlightened human awareness engages.

All men do act this way, as there is little to no incentive for men to change in this patriarchal system that oppresses not just women, but also powerless men! Most women still do not understand this basic knowledge_ why is this still the truth for the average woman?

  • @TheGranti7a where is man in crowd # 1 & 2?
