  • @unit731christ

  • @unit731christ

    sonicyouth . utkonos . org

  • i forgot, but recall that there is a website out there with a LOT of full SY live videos/bootlegs such as this one and i think you could even download it...anyone know it?

  • yeah dude

  • WIshes this tape I used to have didn't melt cause I left it in my car too long.

  • total classic!! 0_o

  • i remember when i went to the rock and roll hall of fame and they had kim gordon's bass from this concert hanging up there.

  • where was it?

  • the rock and roll hall of fame is in cleveland ohio.

  • yeah, but where in the hall is the bass?

  • in the Desert of Nevada ive heard, but im not sure

  • is Lee's sweater the only thing with color?

  • this is so cool to see

  • also: is that metal machine music being played at the end? badass.

  • i wish lee got to sing more. ):

  • this version rules they're still young and energetic

    HIT IT

  • semplicemente da orgasmo

  • quando dio si era annoiato della solita musica di merda creò i sonic youth, e vide che era cosa buona e giusta!

  • Ranaldo does NOTHING awful EVER. Except maybe entertain the pop audience, but that is what he does :D

  • There's a compilation tape of this show, Saccharine Trust and Redd Kross also played if i'm correct

  • Yup, yup, Red Cross played as did The Meat Puppets and Psi Com. I even think that they borrowed some gear from Psi Com for this show.

  • Yup, yup Red Cross was on the bill. As were The Meat Puppets and Psi Com. I even think that they borrowed gear from Psi Com. An amazing performance indeed.

  • Are they still w/ Bob bert?

  • yep, he's on drums

  • Bob Bert has been long gone for 20 years, lol. In 1986 with the EVOL album, Steve Shelley replaced him and has been the drummer ever since.

  • dude, I meant in THIS performance. Obviously Shelley's been with them for most of their career, but I wasn't sure about when between Bad Moon and EVOL Bert left.

  • the stache's show i posted is one of Shelley's earliest shows with the band.

  • probably the best live version of Death Valley '69, high points: Lee replaces lydia and does a fantastic job, the location is mojave desert (death valley), miles from civilization, it must have been near midnight when they performed it.

  • yeah, he didn't seem to do that much of the tapes i have...

saw em do it only once in my 12 times seeing them, in 98, and thurston lee and kim were all singing the chorus together...it was awesome.

  • I like this version with Lee replaces Lydia Lunch. Lee hadn't really sung in any songs in the early stages of Sonic Youth.

  • i think this is way way heavier than most of todays supposed metal

  • ok.

  • God, I want to so bad. I would start with Lee.

  • I call Kim and Thurston. Together.

  • bob bert!

  • This was the gig with Einsturzende Neubauten, Survival Research Laboratories and Boyd Rice in the Mojave Desert right?

  • This was with Redd Kross, The Meat Puppets and Psi Com.

  • kim has incredible ears to hear what key the song is in
