I prefer to brown my sausages first in the oven dish. When browning they release fat into the dish. When the sausages are brown add some olive oil to the dish (about 1/2cm deep) and put back in the oven for a few mins until oil is really hot. Then take out and pour the batter oven everything and put back in oven. The fat from the sausages replaces the need for beef dripping and the sausages have more flavor when browned :D

Two tablespoons should do it...you could use oil instead - just make sure it's really hot so the batter rises properly!

Hey. How much dripping would you put in the oven proof tin before putting the mixture in? Cheers
