thats pretty much the standard (several major league stadiums have shorter distances down the line). but aluminum bats certainly help. however, i have friends that have played in japanese tournaments and they say amateur baseball in japan is for the most part more competitive than american amateur baseball.

Our leagues in Australia "which i must say is rather small and not developed enough" Converted back to wood 2001 for that reason too easy to hit home runs! The thing with American High School Baseball to even College Baseball, Metal bats are required. Wooden bats are optional in most American leagues. It is still quite impressive to see that many home runs at the High School level.

well, the japanese metal bats are different from amarican metals bats. they are heavier than TPX, easton ,etc. the stadium is 122m from center and around 95m+ down the lines. think about NCAA baseball...

some of these players have real pretty swings, but most of them swing and hit like ichiro or hidiki( however you spell it) and neither won of them hits alot of homeruns. So obviously the metal bats help them, but they are still good as they get over there. maybe not for power though
