I've had one for a good three months and the speaker progressively stopped working. I could hear others, but they eventually couldn't hear me at all. I just got a replacement (refurb) that now has the exact same problem. I think I'll take it back to the store again, but I'd rather not get the same ol' rock if it has both the speaker problem and the software bugs I've also noticed.

The software on this phone is terrible. A couple minor bugs wouldn't bother me. To give you a sense of what kind of bugs it has, let me explain.

- For some reason the phone displayed the wrong thumbnail when I was browsing my photos to delete to free up space (lost photos I wanted..).

- The calendar reminder is supposed to go off at 5pm but actually 15 minutes before. Instead, it goes off 5 minutes after the 5pm.

I didn't note all the ugly bugs I've documented (over 10). You've been warned.

@700293 The G'zGear features will always work no matter what plan you have. Even if you have no signal at all, (or no plan at all) the G'zGear features still work. It is a feature of the phone itself and is not related to any "plan" or data package. G'zGear is FREE because all the features are simply "built in features" of the phone.

I thought this phone was good for a while. Had mine for 7 months and it decides to shut off whenever I turn it on. So verizon sent me a new one I have had it for 3 days and everytime I shut the phone it restarts. ITs the crappiest expensive phone i have ever bought. I usually get a fairly cheap phone and it can take more punishment than this. My friend went through 3 already. Don't put it in water it isnt covered if water does get in, which it can because my friend tried it. DONT BUY!

Beware of existing and unadressed software issues. I have had 3 (three) Casio Rock phones since march '10 and they have all been returned for the same issues. The display screen will go blank (white), powers itself off and on, false caller id numbers etc. On top of this, Verizon refuses to deliver me a "New" Rock as replacement. I can only recieve "Like New ", referb/reconditioned phones. These referb's are no doubt phones returned for the same issues as mine. I refuse to accept another Rock.

Thumbs up for this phone. The only thing I don't like is the location of the camera...it makes it awkward to hold while shooting. The pedometer is great. So is the flashlight.

@BAMF69ification Be sure to make a folder on your micro SD card called "my_music" (in lower case) and then copy all your music to that folder. Once you have all the music you want, goto "My Music" on your G'zOne Rock and select the "Scan memory card for new music" under "options" and you should be good to go!

@Yakuzagang5 You're right. The Casio G'zOne "Rock" came out the same time that the Boulder did. The older phone you see in my video is the Casio G'zOne Type-S. There is even an older version called the Casio G'zOne Type-V. There are only a couple YouTube videos on the Type-V model but it was the first of the G'zOne family of phones to come out.

@RAIDENISLIGHTNING The battery life is about average... I have to charge it every 4 to 5 days. Signal strength is great. The one thing I don't dig too much is the charing cradle. It's a good thought, but it is hard to remove the phone from the cradle sometimes after charging and also when pluging it into the cradle. It's a minor annoyance. The phone itself is awesome.

I'm confused by the two videos.... at 9 mins 14 seconds, you see no cut away but the phone is already out of the water looking at the Nalgene bottle?? I have the original Casio phone, definitely time to upgrade but the reviews are mixed on these, most say the waterproofness isn't there. Did this guy find that out??

What your seeing is a video editing error on my part when rendering the 2 videos side by side. The Casio G'zOne Rock records video at 15 fps. My video camera that recorded this video is 30 fps in HD. When I rendered the two, the video lag prevents the two screens from syncronizing. The audio still matches tho. (error in my video editing) The waterproof features on my own G'zOne Rock have been tested many times and I have had no problems yet to this day.

I can personally attest to this phones waterproof-ness. It fell out of my pocket and spend over 10 hours at the bottom of a river, about 8 foot deep. It works perfectally, the only thing that happend was when I first got the phone out, the plastic keypad was "floating" above the actual buttons and the camera did not work, after about a day, it basically fixed itself, eveything is working as it should and the keypad is exactally how it should be.

As to my knowledge, you do NOT need to get Verizon's internet. I was using their "America's Plan" which is now outdated and I did not have to upgrade or anything like that. If you decide to use the internet tho, they might charge you minutes if you are on a minute plan vs unlimited plan. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you can just get the very basic and most cheapest phone plan and still be able to use this phone.

The phone is amazing, great call clairity, great speaker, nice camera (not zoom on camera mode), great recorder and the gz gear is cool. Love the features of this phone and for a flip phone now a days is really cool and the flash is so bright you can use it for a flash light even under water. I call it the Man's phone..lol

If you already have mp3's saved on your computer already or on other device, you can copy them to the phones mini SD card in the "my_music" folder that the phone creates when you insert a micro SD card into this phone. The music menu on the phone has an optioin to scan all mp3 on the micro SD card. You can play them for FREE! You have to pay for the song that you dload from Verizon's Vcast Music store. Best to use mp3's you already have.. save some $.

The battery life is standard. I can get about 3 to 4 days before I have to charge the phone again. The buttons on the G'zOne Rock are raised so it makes it easy to text.

Good question. The G'zOne Rock can be charged using the charging dock which comes included with the G'zOne Rock, OR, you can charge it by removing the plug cable from the charging dock and pluging the cable into the right side of the G'zOne Rock. (You have to remove the tab from the right side of the phone. When you are done charging, you have to plug the tab back into the phone to make it waterproof again.)

If you text alot, I personally would go with the Brigade because the Brigade has a full keyboard for texting as well as a standard keypad.  The Brigade, however, does not have the G'z Gear features that only come with the G'zOne Rock.

Thank you for watching! You are right! The Casio G'zOne Rock has 5 different resolution settings for the picture mode: (160x120),(320x240),(640x480), (1280x960) and (1600x1200). All resolution modes EXCEPT 1600x1200 can zoom in and out in picture mode. Thanks for the correction!

The quick release button is smooth and should work for a long, long time. The texting works fine on this phone and the buttons are raised making it easier to text and dial. I have not experienced the delay.
