This one took my breath away in '99 and it still does. Unbelievable and transcendental track, a true gem. Nice to see they are still alive with a new album.

The way to play keybords is sometimes similar to Spiritualized but I'm irritated by the Spiritualized sounds. Death in Vegas is so coool and kinda more interigent.

The first one is 'Dead Elvis' who came in 97...

Their 2nd is 'The Contino Sessions' who came out in 99....but i'd still recommend to listen to it first and 'Scoprio Rising' which are great, great cd's.

cool music, cool band, cool actittude, but in the end frivolous, unbsubstantial, whithout deepnes music. They probably need a good vocalist and write lyrics and stop listening so many velvet underground oldies.

well i think the 1st one was Dead Elvis or something, i'd say get the most recent best of cause that has virtually all the best tracks of their career. There are 2 slightly different best ofs :)

@BahmanG actually, the first one isn't "the contino session", but "dead elvis", (as they wanted to call themselves Dead Elvis, but the owners of Elvis Presley's rights and copyrights didnt let them do that, so they just called their album like that... And anyway, they called themselves Death In Vegas, as Elvis died over there :) )

but the contino session is an excellent choice to "begin", Scorpio Rising too !

Their last album Satan's Circus is really interesting too, but more industrial...

this is definitely glastonbury because Shovel (on percussion) was playing and he didn't play in France. Route de rock footage was filmed by canal plus and is around somewhere. My dad says it was fantastic, but i don't remember much of it myself.

thats the problem with "labeling" in general, even the most staunch open minded music critic will try to group artists. Death in Vegas is a Rock Band that is heavily into Electronics (for sequencing, sinister beats, sampling, etc )...but they defy genre (other than the overused "Electronica" mass label that groups Portishead with Underworld with GusGus with Beth Horton). Regardless....they jam.
