  • Absolutely love these Bali performances!! Spectacular cultural representations and Ancient expressions of sacred ceremonial perspectives should be a focus of the future integration shift paradigm!! Love and Light to All ~☼~

  • @XXxxKimberlyAnnexxXX

I so agree. Most dances in India and rest of Asia (and SE Asia) served for spiritual purposes, it is so beautiful to see them in this way. Much more calming and soothing to the mind. I wish I could learn these dances. I even find myself doing the beautiful hand gestures. It feels so..empowering.

  • @XXxxKimberlyAnnexxXX this in not Bali ramayana dance, this is Java ramayana dance...both of the are different

  • I a proud being a hindu.

  • dis is the best wayang wong ever !! =) .. peace !

  • maturnuwun mas uploadane

  • It seems some viewers are not here to admire the artistry, but to bother other viewers with their rancors.

  • the Ramayan is from the Hindus, Also Ram Shinta (SITA) and also Hanuman ( ANOMAN.

  • Europeans used to fight amongst themselves too, but they all agree now on their common history - who invaded, who lost, who won, who built what under which unfluence... I look forward to the day SEAsians can do the same and celebrate their collective genius.

  • I just love how South-East Asians constantly bicker and fight amongst themselves to see who's older, better, stronger, etc. We're all human. Our COLLECTIVE beauty and strength is much, much greater than any one culture alone. Is that so hard to understand?

  • Very cool!!

TFS! I am proud being Indonesian, hehe!!

  • kebudayaan hebat sekali!

  • beautiful costumes

  • temple in the back looks like those stupid khmer temples. i guess indonesia influence them so why do they claim everything in sea asia is thiers? idiots.

  • you are wrong. Khmer do not claim everything in sea is theirs. They claim most of the mainland southeast were under their influence. Does Indonesia belong to mainland sea to you? Yes Khmer do not deny influences of other culture such as Hindi and Javanese. Khmer histories note this and you can see a monument dedicated to Khmer victory over the Java hedgemony (9th century) after and regain their full independence, this is display at Wat Phnom.

  • Prior to the Jivia, influence Khmer also had temples and archeology date back to 6th century and before where it was mainly Hindi influence. The existence of Buddhism in Khmer go as far back as 1st Century A.D, almost as long as the Hindu influence but never jumpstart to national importance until Angkor and Post Angkor period.

  • well the best way to understand those cultures by do more research and read more. by the way khmer temples are not stupid and it is too good to be true for man kind to build something like that

  • The rigid concept of religion is foreign to the orient..i.e lands to the east of India....the lands to the west of India has always had a history of aggression and violence ..many times on the basis of faith etc.

I am an Indian who has lived in Indonesia and really admire the Malays for their ability to absorb and enrich foreign cultures including Arya Indian, Buddist, Khmer, Islamic and now western cultures.

Anyone who has travelled the Nusantara archipelago will see what I mean.

  • I really don't see any Khmer influence is one, and I'm sorry to say that I'm tired of people referring to us Indonesians as Malay's not that I don't like them but we aren't Malays. Thats like calling Canadians Americans. I don't know about Malays absorbing culture (well they do but) I have many Malay friends who can't speak a word of Malay. So eh..

  • Apologies if I have accidently classified Indonesians as Malay, but in my limited knowlegde most Indonesians except the Batak and Dayak can probably be classified as the Malay race.

BTW Canadians are Americans.....and Sri Lankans, Nepali, Pakistani are racially Indians.

Therefore in my knowledge , most Indonesians are Malay , but not all Malay are Indonesians.

I AM NOT REFERRING TO THE MELAYU FROM PROPINSI RIAU AND SELANGOR, BUT A BROADER MALAY RACE, WHICH I RESPECT AND ADMIRE.

  • You are very general and like to classify everyone into one huge group, but hey everyone is still a part of smaller parts still, so American's aren't Canadian anymore than Pakistanis are Indians. Batak and Dayak are Indonesian, how much generalization do you guys have to do. There is a division on who's who. Malays aren't Indonesians and Vice versa, Period.

  • There's nothing called Malay race. It is anthropologically not recognized and it is only a concept from Malaysian government, so that they could count the javanese and other moslem austronesians be malay and secured their position as majority ethnic group in Malaysia compared to the chinese and indians. Malay, Javanese and other austronesians are different. While the Javanese still embrace their Hindu-Buddhist past, generally the Malay feel it is better to forget their Hindu-Buddhist past.

  • The correct term for a huge group you reffered would be Austronesians, which is recognized by Anthropologists. The term "Malay race" is invented so that they could get rid of other non-Muslim Austronesians, just like Filipinos, Taiwanese Aborigin, people from Madagaskar, batak, and dayak. In fact, in Malaysia, a Malay must be Moslem, which is totally wrong and not acceptable by anthropologist. Well... politics certainly played well here in Malaysia.

  • Wel i have proof to .Prambanan is a Hindu tempel in central Java, INdonesia was built 850CE on the wall you can read stroryies of HINDU GOD VISHNU

  • Leave the Prambanan to the Orang Java....it is their culture rich as the music of the gamelan nurtured in the Kratons of Java Stenggah....not yet corrupted by the Sanatanis.

  • Who said that Prambanan isn't a Hindu Temple? Just because there is a religious building there doesn't necessarily mean everyone follows that religion. It's basically a monument. If you read what I commented on below with Arnotkaling here you will read what I said and how Javanese aren't Hindu.

  • You don,t know the history all the Javenese were Hindu,s but the Arabs force then to convert into islam . just what they stil do in Kashmir and India BUT STILL the JAVENESe NEVER FORGET THE TRUE STORY OF SHREE RAM THe RAMAYAN is 900000 years old

  • Please no offense but repeat that in English and how were they forced not that I support Islam.

  • history records of muslims tell how they take over Indonesia town by town. They state it in their own history books and when you verify this wwith history of Indonesian themselves you that tis is true.

  • I highly doubt that because who would force it. 2nd, if they did wouldn't the national language be Arabic? 3rd, I'm Indonesian, my dad is and my grandfather is and everyone before that. I really want to verify where you get your history from. If there was anything degrading Islam in any Indonesian History text book, it would be burned along with it's maker.

  • The western view of religion and culture doesn't apply here.

  • great dedication shown by INdonesian Hindus.

  • You've gotta be kidding... Most of Indonesia's Hindus live on Bali. Most of Indonesia's Muslims live in Java and Sumatra. The performers are most likely Muslim and perform this as a tradition. I know a lot of Javanese, either Muslim or Buddhist, never Hindu.

  • EITHER buddhist ha ha ha. there are no buddhists in indonesia accept chinese immigrants so firstly get your facts correct before commenting. AND MANY javanese are reconverting to HInduism. islam was forced onto to Indonesia.

  • @ stealthanugrah first are u Indonesian or Tamil than talk fag.

As a British historian once said most Malays might be muslim but sratch under the surface and they are 99% Hindu.

  • I am an Indonesian; and no they aren't converting to Hinduism, but rather more Balinese are moving off the island. Or that Javanese are being classified as Hindus because of how they worship as animists within Islam. No need to start cursing people out there.

Why would I be Tamil? Plus Malays are MUSLIM... Where are you from your self?

Javanese are NEVER HINDU never met one. My family is Javanese. I live with Javanese.

  • he he keep dreaming. Javanese were Hindu for thousands of years so don't try to rewrite history by saying Javanese are Never Hindu. I know what you muslims are trying to do is sabotage Hinduism.

I'M FROM MALAYSIA. OH BY THE WAY Malays in Malaysia are forced under law to be muslim.

  • Arnot calm done but please I said are... not were never there is a difference man! I'm not rewriting history. Plus when the Muslims took over the Hindus all moved to Bali.I know Malays are forced under law to be Muslim. Please calm down.

  • you are right about that Malay brother. I also know that INdonesian muslims are far less fanatic than the ones in Malaysia.

  • background music originaly from central java called gamelan...love javanese culture

  • the proceeding scene would probably the same seen in which the kecak is performed.

  • how is the backgroundmusic called, the one that sounds a bit chinese?

  • A friend of mine and I was there 3 weeks ago, but didn't get to see Ramayana performance. Too Bad. I really wanted to see it. Maybe next time.

  • this is real indonesia, may our culture last forever.

  • If you wanted your culture to last forever, then perhaps you should convert back into hinduism.

  • hey hey hey.... u don't need religion to have culture or vice versa. What he means is that this is the Indonesia that is never shown to the world.

  • very nice...

  • Oh,My GOSH I loveit,..
