@mightydyckerson Does it really matter if he was or not. Jesus it's 2011 and we're still bitching about things like human sexuality when there are far more important things going on in the world. GROW UP!!!
@adamghy That's a good point. However the million is probably much more heavily insured than the regular winnings. It probably also takes longer to be processed, so it is fairly likely that is why there is a separation.
@TubeTech94 Even though Merv is credited as the creator of the show, he does not have ownership. There should have been something for him, some kind of mention, but alas there was not.
I was there for the taping. You saw pretty much all that was intended to see of Michelle. Immediately after what you see there, they cut the cameras, took away her fake check and handed her an envelope. If I remember correctly, she opened it up and looked shocked and seemed like she started crying. It was obvious that part wasn't meant to be on TV though.
I wonder why Pat got emotional with this one, but not with Charlie O Donnell.

@NewAlbanyIsFun He was emotional with Charlie O. Did you not hear his voice catch more than once?

A depressing ending rather than a happy one. :(

With all due respect to Mr. Mills, why didn't they have this kind of tribute to Merv Griffin? After all, he did create the show...
TubeTech94 2 years ago 8
If memory serves, Merv passed during the off-season...but that still doesn't explain why they didn't do it at the beginning of the season...

If it's on a Rerun they would've also show Steve Pelican holding a check for $30,000 in this 2nd check presentation.

Pat's going to be REALLY emotional when Charlie dies. Vanna, too.
If the show's still going on, that is.
samsticka 3 years ago
Then, the question would be: who will WHEEL choose as announcer? The two bests I can think would be Rich Fields and Burton Richardson.
jarvisbrodiea1 2 years ago
But Rich is still busy with TPIR

True.

When Charlie does pass I would personally like to see Shadow Stevens fill his spot he has a big voice like Charlie does
whitismygurl07 2 years ago
Who's Shadow Stevens? I never heard of him.
jarvisbrodiea1 2 years ago
Shadoe was the announcer for Hollywood Squares during the John Davidson era

@whitismygurl07 And Tom Bergeron.

I was surprise to hear about the passing of Alan Mills. Pat Sajak looked and sounded as if he had started to cry; Vanna too!.
May the Lord Bless Alan Mills.

Now wait, CBS...if you want the secret of the $1M win kept secret from the contestant's family, DO NOT RELEASE SPOILERS THAT SOMEONE WINS.

Sony did the spoilers, not CBS.
