    So those aboard the ISS can inspect the tiles on the bottom of the shuttle for damage, I think.

  • @iVolkswagen youre correct... every since the columbia disaster, they do this maneuver.

  • you r correct. the shuttle also does its own check using the robotic arm. once before docking and once after the leave the ISS.

  • possible to slow down and align with the docking port...

  • Check heat tiles for damage. After colombia they have always done it.
