Interesting point you are trying to make. It is a hate crime when it involves gays, but it is not a big deal when it involves Christians. It sound like tolerance is applied when people agree with you side. As stated above, I do not hate homosexuals. I hate the sin of homosexuality though. If you were put in our position, you may have stronger feelings about this too. Children who are not gay, will not become gay. I grew up as a member of the LDS church and was involved in cub scouts, little league, had a paper route, went camping, and was basically like all other boys, but... I happen to be gay. The Racial Integrity Act required that a racial description of every person be recorded at birth, and felonized marriage between white persons and non-white persons. The law was the most famous ban on miscegenation in the United States, and was overturned by the United States Supreme Court in 1967, in Loving v. Virginia.

What's important is that people need to be respected, whether you agree or not agree with what they do, short of causing harm to themselves or others (which homosexuality by itself does not do). We all deserve respect, and we all deserve equal rights. This is a form of justice, and justice is what makes up America.

composer321, I will disagree with you. I strongly feel that I was born gay, and I was faced with a choice of living harmonious or dissonant to who I am. Many people will say that they didn't choose to be gay, they discovered that they were gay. It's akin to people discovering that they were straight, only that being straight is considered the norm in society, and absent a contrasting view, some straight people may believe there is no other way. No one knows at all what another truly feels.

Last night, Halloween, 5 teenagers (about 14 years old) were riding skateboards on my wall out front. I asked them to stop. This video overlooks 3 important points:
1) The institution of marriage is more than just a word.
2) Separate-but-Equal is not true equality.
3) This is the USA, and here the government does not get to mandate (by majority vote or otherwise) the way its citizens must use words or publish dictionaries. Supporters of Prop 8 pretend this measure forces gay people to stop saying "we're married" in front--oh my God--OTHER people's children. BUT IT WON'T. Gay people aren't going back in the closet.
