I got the genetic test, all they did was an ultra sound and a finger prick. If you have insurance/under your moms might as well get it bc it can be helpful for you doctor more than yourself. They take a little more blood the next appointment but thats all, its nothing invasive.

i have had that test done with both my son my son seth is 3yrs old now and i am pregnant with another boy due in july and all the test have come back good i havent had any problems with the test

Oh my god, 100% honesty.. DO NOT GET THAT TEST DONE! DO NOT!! I got it done and it said that my levels were extremely elevated and there was a good chance she had spina bifida. So I had to get ultrasounds and stress testa every single week and they always came out fine. And she was born 100% healthy. Although she was small (5 lbs born 4 days late) she has no problems with her spine and I had tons of extra stress on my pregnancy for NO REASON!!

thats almost the reason i didnt do the tests but in the end i decided that if something WAS wrong, i'd wana learn everything i could about the problem so i could be prepared and help my child. i would read and study and talk to people who know about the issue. like teenmommylove i would still keep and love my child, but i would want to be totally ready to help my baby in any way possible. PS. im 19 years old, i'm 17 weeks 5 days and so far, all the tests i took have come out problem free!

i think you should take the test just in case (god forbid) the baby has something and then at least you ca be prepared and know how to take care of the baby under those circumstances rather than being surprised last minute. I hope that the baby will be healthy and without any illnesses.

Aww, congratulations! I found out I was pregnant 1 month after I turned 16 & had her 2 months before my 17th birthday, my daughter is 7 months now. Seeing her smile & hearing her laugh is worth going threw hardtimes! I wish you the best of luck girly! :)
